The loveliest thing isn’t the grandeur or the world class finishes, though they are mightily impressive. It’s not that Gorbachev, Bush, Howard, Jessie Jackson have all stayed here. The best thing is the way they treat the children. Special bubble bath with the kids’ name in letters, the cookie with their names inscribed, all waiting in our room on arrival. The special chef’s hats at the dinner table, each making their own pizzas, which are then returned promptly from the oven. Can’t believe it. We’re always reluctant to take little people to fancy places. But the problem would actually seem to be more about the places than the kids. They were engaged, involved and as a result, incredibly well behaved. They felt part of the occasion. This is the new standard by which I judge others. Unbelievable.

Staff friendly and attentive. Cocktails were good, if a little unimaginative (nothing other than 8 standard choices). Starters were simple but well cooked and fresh. We did not have wine after cocktails. Main course was partly disappointing as the duck was undercooked (red) but my fish course was good. They recovered by making apology and I think that any restaurant can make a mistake, so how they reacted was appreciated. We would go back. It is a little expensive but at least it has good ambiance.
