I have explored brixton village time and time again and one of my favourites is this place. A cosy (about 25 seater) restaurant serving homely fresh food with middle easterny flavours, they are famous for their wraps (love the lamb and halloumi). Their chocolate and espresso brownies are heavenly, just so fudgy and full of chocolatey goodness ????. They often have specials, in the picture is their ham hock and butternut squash hash which was beautiful, buttery soft chunks of squash with juicy pieces of ham. Lovely jubbly. If you don’t fancy the queues at federation, you can also get coffee here, not quite as amazing or as many options as federation but a good substitute if you are short on time.
Passing through Brixton recently, I had to check out the Village Arcade for a spot of lunch. Strolling through the vast number of delicious looking pop up style food places, something about French & Grace drew me in – and I’m very glad it did! I had the ber wrap – lamb and halloumi. The lamb was moist, full of flavour and melted in my mouth. The halloumi full of delicious salty taste. The salad (slaw) was crunchy and worked so well with the meat and cheese combo. And everything was hugged by fresh flatbread. I can’t wait to go back!
Great food, great service. French and Grace has become one of my favourites in Brixton Village. It’s a small restaurant, but the size certainly doesn’t harm the quality of the food and the service. Most of the menu is Middle Eastern, including delicious hummus, and I’d really recommend the weekly specials (for example the Mansaf a few weeks ago). Leave room for dessert – their ginger cake with salted caramel sauce is indescribably good!
