Great place to catch the footy, Its not too busy or loud so i could actually have a chat with out having to shout which is a rarety at most pubs. The grub is pretty go too, I had the kebab and chips which put me in a agreeable mood for the rest of the day. It didnt cost too much and the portion was great, so its all good.
Great pub for sport in Brixton with the bonus of a huge beer garden out back for summer. The food is ok value too. I had a spatchcock and chips for 12 that filled the plate and my stomach. Decent dressing on the chicken too. londoncurryblog.com
Nice pub, appalling staff. Really nice comfortable old pub, quiet location with quirky architecture and interior. I was there on a cricket day with TVs blaring, and lots of customers wanting drinks. Staff were *utterly* useless – inefficient, didn’t know their customers, spending ages chatting to each other when there were a dozen or more customers waiting to be served. Took 15 mins+ to be served each time. Maybe they’d be better on a quiet day, but I won’t be rushing back to find out.
This pub has one of the best and biggest secret gardens in London. A fairly nondescript red brick building The Duke pub is a facade to a sizeable beer garden, surrounded by trees and tucked in behind a block of houses. It is a great place to relax with a beverage on a summer afternoon, while a chap manning a barbecue serves up steaks and hamburgers.Inside they have a pool table and plenty of TVs showing the football. They serve some gastro pub grub staples including sausages and mash, rib eye steak and fish and chips for around a tenner. But it’s the garden that’s the big draw – an oasis of green in the gritty back streets of Brixton.
