It isn’t a hidden gem, more like something that should be hidden. I went to Ozlem with a few friends, my friend dragged us from whitechapel all the way to stoke newington, to try Ozlem, the service at the beginning from seating us down was terrible, after giving us our menus, kept us waiting 15 mins before he takes our order, after that our starters arrived, one small plate of salad between 3, after this main course arrived, looked small was actually quite filling, food wasn’t bad, nothing special either, it’s a standard Turkish restaurant, 5 min after serving us our mains, I asked him for some hot sauce, he said I’ll bring that right over, instead he goes away for 20 min not bringing us our dips, then in my line of sight his sitting down eating bread and drinking soup. Me and my friends couldn’t stop laughing, I then went up and asked for the chilli sauce again, no apologies or anything instead took another 10 mins bringing it. Ozlem has nice food, but that gets cancelled out by the boy who’s the main waiter, who is completely rubbish the poor service, and indecency, I will never go back or recommend anyone to this place. Dreadful rude and rubbish.

Friendly, cheap, delicious!. We love this place. We bring our friends, family and housemates here all the time and now they do the same. They even do delivery to your home for FREE – a service we have taken advantage of on many occasions.The staff are always gracious, friendly and good-humoured. The starters are delicious (best lamachun around, in our opinion) as are the kebabs. All of the portions are enormous and much cheaper than other restaurants.Don’t be put off by the decor – it does look more like a large kebab shop or cafe rather than an actual restaurant but when the people are so nice, the food delicious, the prices low, AND you can bring your own wine for no extra charge, we have found that there just isn’t any point going anywhere else. On the few occasions we have decided to try somewhere new we have always felt disappointed, either by the quality of the food we receive, or the prices which are sometimes DOUBLE what Ozlem charge. Go and eat here – if you don’t enjoy it, it is because you are a miserable old Scrooge!
