Top quality and not too pricey. My frame of reference is that I enjoy home cooked Indian food approximately two nights a week, the spicier the better usually and I’ve tried pretty much every Indian Restaurant in the Stoke/Stone area. Last night we went to Al Sheikhs as I’ve recently moved to the area and have been trialing the local restaurants (so far ‘The Crown of India’ – poor quality food, too dark and unfriendly staff, ‘Ovilash’ – above average food and nice atmosphere). I shan’t be continuing after finding Al Sheikhs, absolutely fantastic food at a good price in a nice, open environment. We had the Chef’s Special starter for two which although I thought was a little meager with the portion the flavour was beautiful and I’m probably just a bit greedy. After that we had the Jeera Chicken and the Chilli Chicken (One of the hotter dishes), both were delicious and none was left at the end. Service was warm and friendly and I heartily recommend try the Murphy Vineyards ‘Big Rivers’ Shiraz. At 17.95 it’s not a cheap wine but it is extremely smooth and still powerful enough to enjoy with spicier dishes. In summary, I don’t think I’ve ever had nicer Indian food so unless things drastically change I’d strongly advise you give them a try.
Good atmosphere but food was too spicy which masked the true flavour of the food. I would prefer whole poppadoms for a starter with full chutney tray than opposed to broken up pieces. I think you get good value for money and is a good place to go if you like very hot and spicy food!
VERY POOR. Service was appalling on our visit on Sat 18th June. Couldn’t get a drink, had to ask twice to get a menu, kept waiting almost 1 hour for starters and then had to send 2 back as they were cold. Waited another 45 minutes for mains and they forgot the second round of drinks altogether.Manager couldn’t be bothered to come and see our table of 6, or other tables who were also complaning. After all that the food was just ok – no more. Certainly won’t be going back.
Fixed price (11-95) menu excellent value, quality ingredients, well cooked. IMO the best in Stone
