Welcomed by a very nervous young lad and ignored by the more experienced Italian guy until it was time to pay. My partner had the calzone with no flavour at all. It had completely plain chicken (boiled or steamed?) most of the filling was a huge amount of melted mozzarella, a few mushrooms and a bit of ham which was the only flavour). I chose Gnocchi alla Romana which was described as gnocchi with cream, garlic, mushrooms and peas. Well there wasn’t a pea in sight but it did have a lot of Gorgonzola; an element I would have expected to be listed in the description. Luckily I don’t mind it but probably wouldn’t have chosen it. I can’t say mine lacked flavour because it was full of it! Very rich too.On the plus side, the portions were very generous, service was fast and smooth and we made use of their 6.99 offer for any pasta or pizza. So at least we didn’t feel as though we had wasted 10-12 per course at their usual prices. We really hoped this was going to be a gem that we had been thinking of trying for ages, but we won’t be going back. Such a shame.

Lunchtime menu – bean soup, spaghetti with prawns and chilli – excellent. Portions are the normal ie very generous size. Give the foccacia starter a miss, it’s a pizza base. Otherwise I recommend

Lovely restaurant. Every time I go I have the scampi livorese – it’s so good I can’t not have it!

Absolutely Faultless. Speaking as someone who has spent 2 years in Italy and fully appreciates Italian food, I can confidently say this place is fully authentic and how Italian food should be. They import a fair amount of their ingredients and it shows. The portions are huge and the staff are polite and professional.Once you try this place, I’d be surprised if you ate at another Italian restaurant ever again (unless you go to Italy of course!)

Very good food, try the king prawn risotto for 10 – large portions on all dishes – ps I am a true customer !!
