have eaten here many times , the food has always been of a very high standard, about a 1 to 2 star rating, afternoon tea is a old school. finger sandwiches, scones and cream cakes with a pot of tea , evening dinning provides you with many excellent choices along with a very good wine list,(slow cooked pork belly very tasty) some where to go in epsom for that special occasion
My wife and I had lunch at The Canopy last Saturday as it was a sunny day and they offered outside seating where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Saturday Farmer’s Market.The Canopy is a popular Epsom eating establishment and has been recommended us to by a few friends. I was therefore very disappointed when the club sandwich I ordered turned out to be made with plain sliced bread. When their charging you 10 for a club sandwich, you would expect them to serve artisan bread or at least not pre-packaged sliced bread. The club sandwich itself is quite plain, dry and the bacon was overcooked. My wife ordered the canopy house salad with goats cheese and bacon and not it only did it have lackluster presentation, the salad was pretty much tasteless. The servers were young and friendly, but the service was very slow. It took over 15 minutes to serve our lunch (when they weren’t very busy) and when we asked for some sauce for the chips, that took another 5 minutes to serve. When we asked for the bill, it took them 10 minutes to give us the bill, and then another 10 minutes to actually process my payment. I would actually like to try their dinner menu but given the disappointment of our lunch experience, I am not sure if we would risk coming back.
