Buon appetito at the Il Capriccio…. Had been awhile since I had ventured in here and all past experience have always been good. This was no different. They catered for a party of 35 people, and even though on a Monday night, the rest of the restaurant was busy, tables full bar a couple. The place hadn’t changed decor wise from what I remember, being a traditional Italian style restaurant themed in the colour of green. Nicely lit, bright where the party was but dimly lit where couples were eating, the place was clean and comfortable. We had a 3 course set menu which was of excellent value and of incredible choice, giving us 15 starters, 14 main courses and desserts, with coffee thrown in for good measure. There was something for everyone and for the price, quite spoilt for choice. For starters I had the Agnolotti Della Chef because it seemed different, pasta with cheese, spinach in a cream, tomato, mushroom and parsley sauce. It was beautiful, very tasteful and was quickly polished off. For main it was the beef Stroganoff as I have had it there before and again, was superb as I remembered it. Service was good, and everyone seemed more than happy with their meals, empty plates all round, or, some leftovers due to the generous portions. You could easily skip starters and go straight for the main, but at the price why not over indulge. This place hasn’t lost it magic, good food, good portions and well priced, I would most definately return here again. Ideal for couples, small and large parties. They also offer outside seating in the warmer months and there is a VIP room upstairs, however limited seating.
