Dropped in here for dinner. The place was relatively packed and outside seating was not an option as it was freezing cold. We ordered beer and the Mediterranean Mezze to start. The starters was really good. For the mains we ordered the Margarita pizza and the Spit fired chicken. Both the items were nice although not exceptional. Ideal for lunch outside over looking the river and the boats. Could have been better.
Ordered food 2 course meal deal and a drink 15.40. The 3 tables in my area all need to be cleaned. Ask the manager to clean table and waited 10 min and told a staff member would get to me .starters arrived before tables where cleaned . staff then start spraying cleaning spray over or starter .Only 17/ 20 costumers in at lunch time .ordered food @ 12.40 got starter @ 12.50 . Came back to clear table after I ask to have it cleared @ 13.10 . Got our main course @ 13.20. Very small steak sandwich and chips . Not worth the extra charge for the steak sandwich . Waiters don’t clear any plates when drop off meals and we had to get knives and forks.I told all this to the manager as I left and got a half assed sorry 6 people in our group all ordered food individual and paid when we placed or order was not worth the 80 to 90 pounds we paid .
Nestled somewhere on the banks of Thames along Portsmouth Road in Kingston upon Thames, this restaurant is the perfect location for that romantic dinner with your spouse that you’ve postponing all this while. This restaurant is easy to miss as you’d really not expect to find someplace so charming on a deserted lonely road. The food is also quite delightful and they’re merciful to the vegetarians as well with an exclusive menu for the ones who love green. Make sure to try out the ‘Spit Roast Chicken’ which is cooked to perfection. They’ve got it all. Great food and unbelievably good ambiance makes Hart Boatyard, a perfect dining destination.
Lovely location, food ok, service could be better. First time I went… wasn’t spectacular but did the job.Food was above average and the Thai fish soup and caesar salads for starters were good.Mains a tad disappointing – roast chicken and lamb both served lukewarm. To be honest, not much you can really complain about as 2 courses were 14 so wasn’t expecting much. The service at the bar was excellent and friendly – the table service left much to be desired with no interest to clear our table of plates when we finished our starters and mains.I would have liked to have someone at or near the door to show the best place to sit – it certainly was not even half full on a beautiful, sunny day and I would have been happy to have paid a bit more for better quality.Worth a one-off visit just for the view.
Dinner at Harts Boatyard. I am torn with this place. On one hand, they have a beautiful setting that is hard to beat in the local area. The sun setting over the trees on the far river bank, sailing boats on the glistening water and a balconly and riverside seating to take it all in. On the other hand there are quite a few negatives. The staff are SLOW. The bar staff do not seem particularly fussed with giving good service, our starter took 45 minutes to turn up, we waited 30 minutes for our jug of tap water and had to remind them twice to fetch it before we got it and the food seems overpriced for the quality that they serve up. Don’t get me wrong, the food is OK, but for 15- 25 for a main, you expect it to be stunning and at Mayfair prices, you want Mayfair standards. Our strater of Camambert with bread was nice but there was no side salad, it just seemed to require a bit more attention. The chicken main I had was generous but there was no more finesse in this dish that you would get in a normal pub that would charge about 7 less for the dish. My girlfriend’s duck was nice but again, not great. we decided not to wait anotehr 30 minutes to be served a dessert. All in all, I would recommend this place for an evening drink on the terrace but with tardy service and food that is overpriced an lackiing in star quality, I would suggest you just stick to the drink in the sun and enjoy taking in the sailing and rowing on the beautiful river.
Great Location, food’s ok too.. Had a christmas meal here with some friends recently so much fun was to be had. The location is great along the riverside which in summertime I’m sure is a great appeal. The food was good well cooked and the service helpful too.Well worth a visit.
Unbeatable location overlooking the Thames. I would certainly recommend Hart Boatyard for a summer afternoon drink. Food could be better.
