Barbican Lounge is a great place Located in the City of London, near the Museum of London, around 5-10 min from the tube station Barbican. The cusine in the venue is mostly British. I can recommend to order a sides to share like the Ploughmans( Westcombe cheddar, smoked ham hock terrine, ox cheek scotch egg, home-made piccalilli, apple chutney, caper berries & bread), combined with a bottle of white wine like the Pinot Gris Huia from New Zeland! Convenient prices, pleasant services!
Quite cheap, and amazingly delicious-this is the Barbican lounge.Around 10 min away from Barbican station, the Lounge is situated quite close to the Barbican lake side with great views. It has different contemporary dishes but my favourite ones are definitely the carnivore which you can share with a friend and the Severn&Wye smoked salmon. You would pay not more than 30 for two people.
6/10 For food and service. We had 6 dishes tapas in two of us. It was Just OK. I didn’t enjoyed deep fried Prawn .It had totally wrong sauce like chinese. Service was very casual. I wouldn’t go back there.
Good food, stunning terrace. The Barbican, in all its Brutalist glory, is one of my favourite spots for a wander in central London. After a happy time exploring the high walkways, which link the London Museum to the Barbican Centre, we stopped off for lunch in the Lounge a couple of weekends ago.We turned up around 1pm, after having checked out the very disappointing Food Hall on the ground floor, and we were quickly shown to a nice table in the dining room which was surprisingly empty for a weekend afternoon. The Lounge is a functional but attractive space; quite stylish with a slightly Scandinavian feel to the room. This is somewhere I would come on my own, as a couple or as a part of a larger party. The menu is short and well balanced with a number of dishes available as small plates which are great for grazing and sharing. The wine list is also well edited, with a decent choice at a reasonable price for this location. As we were in the mood for snackage rather than a full blown lunch, and being a little bit wary having read some of the previous reviews, we ordered some bread and started off by trying the whitebait with aioli and the fishcakes. Both dishes were fine, went down very well and were good value for money. We washed these down with the house White which was fresh, fruity and full of flavour.Having enjoyed our fishy nibbles we decided to order up a couple more dishes; we had the grilled spicy chicken with mango and the parmesan and olive meatballs. Again both dishes were well executed and nicely presented; nothing to knock your socks off in terms of culinary delights but they did the job and were very tasty. The weather had improved by the time we had finished our food so we decided to order another drink and check out the lovely terrace. This is a fantastic space with wonderful views and a really interesting selection of fragrant and visually engaging plantings. If you find yourself near the Barbican on a sunny day I would recommend grabbing yourself a cold refreshment and spending an hour on the terrace – you will not be disappointed. On our visit the staff were friendly, attentive and did not seem to mind our erratic method of making our way through the menu – I guess this may be a different experience if they are busy or in the evening. This would have got a good 3 based on the food and the dining room but the lovely terrace bumps it up to a 4. I look forward to my next visit …..
