There were only two fish entrees on the menu and one of them was not available. The sole was a bit over cooked. Overpriced for what it is. Even though it was early in the evening and the dining room was quite empty the service was slow.

Very friendly staff in a great atmosphere. The food was presented beautifully and the food was cooked to perfection. I had crackling pork which was tender with crispy skin. The black pudding came as a moouse and was a great accompinent. The baked custard for dessert was perfection with brilliant honeycomb.

I came to Lutyens straight after work, and while usually in London that means you are dressed to the nines, working at a tech start up means you dress down. So I felt slightly bad for showing up in jeans, a loose T-shirt and sneakers, because the place has a posh aura. I was slightly concerned about being welcomed like someone who didn’t belong, but my concerns could not have been more wrong: the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and I never felt judged based on my outfit.I let the wine choices to a friend, who is much more knowledgeable in the subject, and she chose a lovely Hungarian dry white wine from the impressively enormous wine list – the sommelier agreed it was a very underestimated wine due its more reasonable price.I can only say that I enjoyed every bite of every meal. I started with the smoked salmon, which was very fresh with pickled cucumber and horseradish. For main, I had 55 day Middle White pork, which was succulent and rich in flavour. One of my dining partners had a steak, which was beautifully cooked and came with an impeccable barnaise sauce. But my favourite was the dessert – talk about foodgasm, I couldn’t suppress a moan because it was just so damn good. I went for the pistachio financier with raspberry sorbet ice cream. The financier was incredible – moist, fluffy, and very tasteful. The pairing with raspberry was beautiful and the recommended dessert wine brought out the nuttiness of the dessert wonderfully.I can only be positive about my experience here, and I certainly recommend a visit if you are looking for a fine dining experience.

On my second visit here, on a Friday lunch, the dining room was busy. Starters were priced from 8 to 16, main courses 14 to 36, side dishes 4 and desserts 7 – 9. There was also a cheap lunch menu available at 26 for three courses.I began with salmon tartare, garnished with salmon roe. I am a fan of bold seasoning, but this was distractingly so, very peppery indeed, though the dish was quite pretty and the salmon had decent flavour once my palate had recovered from the pepper (13/20). Braised beef short rib was tender and in this case seasoned with restraint, served with wild garlic and salsify and some rather dense smoked mashed potatoes (14/20).Yorkshire rhubarb crumble was a modern take on the dish, the crumble base topped with a yoghurt sorbet encased in a light rhubarb mousse, garnished with pistachio. This was very pleasant, perhaps a little lacking in enough rhubarb flavour but an interesting idea (14/20). Service was excellent.Overall, Lutyens delivers a very enjoyable experience, with its appealing menu, smooth service and nicely decoarted dining room. I can see why it was so busy. andyhayler.com

Good Option for City Dining……. I enjoyed it. Lutyens isn’t going to be fabulously creative or innovative. It is however, a conveientlly located city restaurant serving well cooked classic fare backed by competant service and a wine list that scales to far reaches of the atmosphere. It isn’t cheap but nor is the city and you can go with confidence that you will have a good meal here.
