Coffee yeah! : ). St Pauls the best coffee in London for sure. I have had coffee in so many cafes in London and they have all been yuck (weak and insipid). Will go back again and again for the coffee alone.
We took our Mum here for afternoon tea for her Birthday, the service was lovely, cakes and sandwiches delicious and the cosy atmosphere in the vaulted restaurant really suited the occasion, top marks guys, thanks!
Shocker: good food IN the City AT a tourist destination. I often think us City folk get what we deserve: The Restaurant at St Pauls is deserted while Cafe Rouge over the road is packed out. I really enjoyed the food here: great ingredients made into really tasty dishes – we tried the fish &chips, mushy peas and a veggie main (cheese/pots/beets). The fish & chips with glass of wine was good value at 15, while the veggie main for the same price was less so, albeit I really enjoyed it. Mushy peas were great even if totally unlike chip shop style. Service could be slicker, if they’re to tempt more locals in for a quick lunch, and a smile or two wouldn’t have gone amiss. I’ll definitely go back (I do work nearby). I hope more locals go, as the tourist trade doesn’t appear to be enough to fill it, even on a wet Friday in August. In fact, I hope more tourists go – this is a great advert for British food – ingredients and cooking.
