Great historical pub, with all sorts of nooks and crannies! Friendly service and great atmosphere. Unfortunately toilets are disgusting, filthy. My friends rated the food well

History is the main appeal of this pub, it is a tourist hot spot so it gets busy. The decor is what you would expect of an old English pub and the ale is good. It is as advertised

This place has very old history dated from the 17th century were it was rebuilt after the great London fire. One of the tiny rooms really looks like you are in a movie of a London pub 2 or 3 centuries ago with the mixed smell of the fireplace and the alcohol. Apart from that the food isn’t great. My hamburguer was probably the worst I’ve ever had in a pub including the chips. But well it’s definitely worth a visit for drinks with friends.

Loved the old old building and the ancient ambience. The mushrooms were a treat and so was the chocolate orange mousse. Great energy. Lovely ecpetience

One of the oldest pub in London, but full of regulars, not just tourists. The rooms are dim like you wait from an historic place, but this does not stop you from read and choose tasty food from their menu…my trio of sausages was very good, and so the chicken my partner had. Good choice of beers. Highly Recommended!

Beautiful pub, one of the oldest in London and I think also one of the nicer I’ve ever seen. Many rooms divided in more levels. Had a lovely lunch, with a fisherman’s pie and an apple crumble with icecream. pattylovesbaking.wordpress.com

Visited last month (april’2015) on our travels to london….This is as authentic as it gets…the place is several hundred years old….its in a quiet lane and inside its dark and dingy as you keep going down a couple of levels to reach the bar counter….the whos and who of historical london were regulars here…you can see pictures hanging on the dilapidated walls….Absolutely nothing fancy but the feel of a vintage english pub inside out..We had beer and fish&chips…..splendid…The lady at the bar was very forthcoming too…As tourists, this is exactly what we wanted to experience….!!! OLDE IS GOLDE 😀
