Building & Service: A largeish building with a welcoming look rather than a dominating persona. As I walked in, the staff were very friendly and made me and my party very welcome. We were offered to be shown to our table or have a drink at the bar. We chose to be shown to our table and the menus were brought promptly and we were told recommendations. *****Starter: Smoked Haddock Fishcakes *****Came promptly and was hot. Portion size was certainly in expectations and presentation was great. The fishcakes were cooked very well and tasted fantastic. The only negative point is that there was perhaps more sauce than was necessary, but this was a very minor point to an otherwise brilliant first course.Mains: Chargrilled Fillet Steak w/ Green Peppercorn Sauce ****Again came promptly which was a nice touch, and also a sign of good communication between front of house and the kitchen. The portion size was exactly what was expected and was cooked very nicely. The steak came with petit pois and chips, which were fresh and cooked well also. We ordered a side order of new potatoes and mange tout, which were also cooked to perfection and made the main a very enjoyable experience.Dessert: Toffee & Banana Crumble w/ Ice Cream *****Served promptly and was a great portion size for a dessert. Presentation was impeccable and the dish tasted fantastic. Overall a great dining experience and I highly recommend this to anyone.
