Weve been travelling around the UK for four weeks and found the meal at the Fat Badger the best so far. Highly recommended. Try the tuna or the pork. Both excellent. The service was excellent and friendly.
I am on a conference at the hotel so have had lunch and dinner here. They are the most disappointing meals I’ve had in months. The food all sounds nice on the menu but the meals are incredibly salty and greasy; the fish is consistently overcooked and the tastes are out of balance. The presentation gives the impression of a chef who aspires to haute cuisine but hasn’t even mastered the basics. The waiting staff are very friendly, bless them. But I won’t be eating here again.
Dear Fat Badger……….. Today, 1/8/11, you really excelled yourselves. It is our wedding anniversary and my husband had purchased a voucher through Groupon for Fish and Chips. He booked last Wednesday, 27/07/11 and spoke to an inept individual who was apparently looking at the wrong week in the diary. No matter, it was clarified and a booking made for today at 1pm.We duly arrived at the appointed time and found no-one to welcome us or show us where we needed to go, just a lot of peevish looking waiting staff milling around, full of their own self importance. I was standing on two crutches so that went down well. When someone actually deigned to speak to us, it appeared there was no record of our booking. Having explained that it had been booked the week before, we were told they were full with Groupon bookings. However the chap went away to see what he could do, and came back to tell us that chef would provide food for us on this occasion! We were shown to a table, and then waited. And waited. And waited. After about 20 minutes two cups were provided for coffee, which we then waited another 10 minutes for. ( And it wasn’t worth the wait, I can tell you). Presently a waitress appeared with what was clearly High Tea and looked very surprised when she was told it was fish and chips we were waiting for. Then more waiting. About 45 minutes after we arrived, we left without eating.I realise that fish and chips purchased through a voucher scheme is hardly Haute Cuisine, but really if The Fat Badger are to participate they need to know that it does NOT mean that we are entitled to be treated like 2nd class plebs. If you cannot perform to the highest standard for everyone, don’t bother at all. And what exactly did you excel at? Providing a fourth rate service to someone who most certainly will discourage people to come to you. Thanks for a lovely day. ( As we went shopping afterwards as planned, and were very hungry, we popped into a local Beefeater, and the brilliant lass who served us made up for your appalling service).
