Update: we visited again in November 15 specifically for the gluten free sausages which are no longer available. Very plain food is now. It gluten free either (the pork crackling or the lentil Dahl). Be very careful because he allergy menu says it’s fine but the waitress returned to our table on 5 occasions to say the chef looked at the PACKET and it’s not ok. All the food was bland and unappetising including the burger, onion rings and calamari my guest ate. It seems they have either changed supplier or are buying in much cheaper, ready made food or both. It was such a shame as I loved this place and now I won’t bother going back. Original review The greyhound is out of the way in the countryside in a lovely location, but don’t trust your sat back to get you there. Luckily a wrong turn will end up in an urban area so you won’t be lost for long. The decor is nice. It’s a cosy pub with wood chairs and a fireplace. There’s a disabled toilet that unfortunately is frequently occupied by people who can’t be bothered to walk up the stairs. The bar is small but cosy and pleasant to sit in. Generally speaking the food at the greyhound is very good. Top notch pub food. Hearty, warm and satisfying, however when they get it wrong, they completely fall apart. If you want the Sunday roast you definitely need to book and don’t bother going after 3 maybe 3.30 or it starts to get ropey. The menu is general is good though. The sausage and mash is great especially thanks to the gluten free sausages. I don’t eat pork, but if I go here I have to make an exception. Delicious. The fairly new pork bites as a starter are big bits of crackling which in theory is awesome but in the end I was fed up. They aren’t really porky enough and lack flavour but you’ve Gotta love that crunch! The baked Brie is delicious as are the pies which come out on pie day. Most days of the week are themed alongside the menu which makes for great choice. All in all a very nice place to spend some time and eat good food. If you go and its disastrous, give it one more go, because that does tend to happen occasionally.
