I’ve been to Pelican’s twice and both times it was a less than average experience. The first time I visited was during a friend’s celebration and she had booked out like a set menu for all the invitees. Food was mediocre. The space is lovely and it could be utilised so much better with the right staff and the right attention to detail. Hope you guys improve as you really do have a very nice setup.
PLEASE AVOIDCan’t comment on the bar but the takeaway was awful.The ‘large’ meal is one leg of dry, reheated bland chicken served with lettuce and rice. That is 6.50 which is very overpriced.We asked to sit outside in the nice seating area, we were told that was 1 extra. Also tried to charge us 1 extra per person for a different salad and also 50p each for a cup of tap water (which is illegal, anyway)Very rude serving staff, borderline aggressive. Please check out other venues in Croydon – this one is not worth it.

They were insistent that everything was paid for in advance. Ok so we did. However there was a catalogue of disasters. We ordered 11 dishes on a buffet … We got only 6. They told us they had made a mistake and we couldn’t get the rest as they didn’t have them. The portion sizes weren’t even enough to feed a child. They promised deserts and gave a group of 60 people 1 lemon cake cut into around 20 wafer thin slices with tins of fruit salad. When we approached Management they were rude and the owner just blamed other staff members and her Managers. Her Managers blamed the owners and it was a nightmare! Said they would compensate us, but never did. Now refusing to answer emails and phone calls.Spoke to a few other people who said they would not have booked there in the first place as they had heard bad reviews themselves. Small portion sizes, rude staff and limited food. Such a shame as the actual venue is really nice! Very shoddy and I am surprised they are still going!!
Slow disorganised staff. The big women is rude!1st time was not too good but went a 2nd time to give it another chance. Food was better (it was cooked this time!!!) but service was bad and very unpleasant experience for my guest too.
