Restaurant has closed. There is no longer a Jamies in St Albans. Hmm, 140 characters per review, eh? Maybe I should just point out that it's closed?…

When I think of Jamie Oliver I think of bursting flavours, hearty food with flare, so I was pretty excited to eat at one of his places. I thought when I came to his restaurant I would encounter him on a plate (metaphorically) … but instead I received a cold standard steak…Even the flavours were so standard and the food was under seasoned. In his vision of making his food easily accessible I think (especially in this branch) he has lost the most important thing (that delicious food of his!!). However it’s not all negative… I have to mention the fantastic service I received…the staff went out of their way and were a great, cohesive team. That said I wouldn’t go again because it’s all about the food and this place just did not cut it …
Good Food, Poor Service. Four of us ate at Jamie’s Italian St. Albans. We all enjoyed our meals, they were very good. Our server, however, didn’t really care or was not properly trained. Some examples: We were not told of the special and only noticed the board after we had ordered, we were able though to change one order. Wine was not served properly and with the multiple that restaurants sell wine at the servers should be trained in this…it is part of a good dining experience. The restaurant was busy but it seemed as if the other servers were around their tables and we had at times to pass messages through them. All in all a reasonable experience that could have been much better with a server who knew their job. I would eat there again but would ask the maitre d’ for a server who knew their job.
