Given that I like this place for the music and the drink selection, I have to admit that the pizza selection is a bit odd and not good as I was hoping for. Granted that after drinking for a while and enjoying the night, it hits the spot perfectly. I prefer to stick to the other options on the menu and keep to love this spot.
I wouldn’t normally write a negative review but, having had a pizza here a few days ago, I’m baffled as to why other posters rate the food here so highly. The pizza I had on a quiet Monday night was pretty terrible. Maybe the chef was off that day or the staff have changed. Anyway, based on one experience, I’d approach the food here with caution and stick to drinking.
This is a great late night locals bar in TP with an alternative edge. It’s open until 3 amazingly most nights and have a range of events from club nights to films to comedy to gigs.I have recently had some issues where I think the bouncers are trying it on. E.g. On free nights they try to charge entry after midnight despite signs saying free plus once tried to let me in few but made my boyfriend pay. Gross. The food is really good stone baked pizzas which are reasonably priced and 241 on a Tuesday!
I’m giving Aces and Eights a 4/5 for the atmosphere because it’s awesome and because I’ve heard amazing things about the pizzas from John Cooper. However I only had one slice of vegan pizza (vegan base, no cheese, vegetables on top) and it wasn’t really my thing. Just give me all the meat and mozzarella man. But my vegan dining company munched it in record time so I’ll take that as a thumbs up… whatsarahdoes.com
The pizza here is second to none. Stone baked to order and lots of interesting veggie options. Take away available for pizza only. You can call and order too. One of the best pizza places in North London without a shadow of a doubt.
