Not at all fancy, this is your bog standard Indian takeaway. There are lots of fancy Indians in the area so for years had never tried the curry centre until recently. I was very pleasantly surprised. My Lamb Rogan josh was tasty and delivered nice and quickly. It’s not going to win any awards Burt I found the food good and it’s super cheap for the area.
So as you can see from the photo, this isn’t a fancy sit down and enjoy your Indian meal place. This is a takeaway. So I won’t be reviewing the ambience or surroundings as I had their food sat on my bedroom floor craving something from a tandoor and trying to eradicate a hangover by ordering from the closest place to me.On the menu tonight was salmon shashlik for main. This is one one my favourite dishes to order in so I was really disappointed when it came out a little burnt with an overpowering smell of smoke. Unfortunately the taste was also too burnt to truly enjoy and the salmon was very dry. Sides were Vegetable Dupiaza which was slightly spicy but nothing too hot and an Aloo Chana which was fairly tasteless but had plenty of nice mushy chickpeas in it.All in all, standard takeaway affair, nothing too exciting to report. whatsarahdoes.com
The order took an hour and a quarter to arrive despite us being located only about a half mile away, had to give the delivery driver directions after he called to say he couldn’t find our road. Plenty of food for two and under 20. We chose two biryani, some roti and channa, and though very late the quality of the food was pretty ropey (veg curry with cabbage leaves and tinned beans, dry shreds of chicken and gristly lamb). I don’t think we’ll give The Curry Centre another try any time soon.
