As part of my ongoing tour of Essex/East London, we booked well in advance for the very popular Ninos. This is an Italian restaurant really popular with the foodies of the area. Celebrations galore or just opportunities to get glam are enjoyed here. It is also quite popular for groups with ladies which could be because of the really charming waiters. We arrived, on time and our table was not ready due to the sheer amount of people in the place. This was the case for over 30 minutes. It could have been poor table management, a lost reservation, I dont know what it was, but it was not a good start. Inside is full, with no bar, so you had to sit outside waiting for your table and it was not the warmest of evenings. A waiter tried his best to keep us entertained, bringing us some drinks and checking in regularly. When one is hungry, cold and just left a fab experience at Lizard Lounge, this really sets your night back a bit. I really hope that this is not a regular occurrence as the rest of the night, once we got to our table, was perfect. The food is lush. Like literally so tasty. The happy go lucky, laughing and joking customers, provide a great backdrop for your dinner. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there. This extended to the team of staff who had good banter, were on point with the service and good at menu suggestions. They are pretty old school in terms of their digital presence. A very basic website with no booking facility. You have to call and trust that they will actually note your reservation. For our food, Sam Vanilla had cheesy stuffed mushrooms which looked and tasted epic. I opted to go straight for my main and enjoyed gorgeous king prawns in a garlic and tomato sauce with a side of steamed spinach and zucchini. Sam had penne bolognaise. All of the food was as you would expect from an authentic Italian restaurant where the focus is on quality and quantity. Great place, we will be back. cookandpour.co.uk
