Dear Owner,we have been your clients for 2 years, coming there so many times and bringing friends and family, spending a lot of money (that make your LIVING..); my wife says your carrot cake is the best she’s ever had, I have the fortune to get gluten free cakes, and our daughter can play in your kids area at the back. Never could make big complaints, nothing’s been a big deal before. Since today. We are 9 people + 1 kid, we arrive before 10am, so it’s not very busy, it’s a bit cold so we don’t want to seat outside, and we see that the first 2 tables inside are empty and we kindly ask if we could put the tables together so we could fit all (we usually use our brain, so before to ask we try to understand if there is space for all of us, without hindering the entrance and the way: there is enough space, basically it won’t change anything, just the tables being together instead than separate). One of the waiters answers ‘NO’. My wife and I ask ‘why not?’. He starts saying things like ‘we have lots of mums coming with buggy and they are the priority, there won’t be enough space for them if you take all the tables’, pointing at my daughter in the buggy waiting outside with my mother in law.. I answer ‘That’s my daughter, what does it mean this? We are 9 if we sit down separately we will take anyway both tables, I don’t understand what’s the problem’; he says ‘we need space for security in case there is a wheelchair or something’ and I say ‘look, it is going to be exactly the same as it is now, just putting the tables together’; the guy calls the ‘chef’, who comes to me and keeps saying that is not possible. I feel anger because it looks to me we are being discriminated for some reason, maybe because the staff is too lazy to move one table (that anyway we can do it ourselves), or maybe because they really need to give priority to small groups with mums and kids? Which would be crazy I believe (anyway we have a kid…). Unfortunately, at the end, I have a bad reaction, and all I say is ‘you know what, we come here every week, we won’t come anymore, …. …’, and I leave, we all leave. The bold guy comes outside, looking at me in a very intimidatory way, with a sense of challenge, and when I am already outside on the sidewalk, I say to him ‘why you are looking at me like this?’, and this guy comes outside in front of me (very close), telling me ‘I am not here taking your abuse, we are all here for a living’ and I say to him ‘Apparently not since you are basically not allowing us to sit’. End of the story. We went to an other place in Balham, we spent almost 100.
