Having visited the Castle in Tooting for a Sunday lunch I felt compelled to write a review. I had booked one of their huts outside for 5 people but on arrival saw that despite booking it for food the tables were not together or even set we even had another couple in the hut despite asking for a private one! We asked to be moved inside instead and things seemed to go from bad to worse – while taking our seat the waiter announced that there was a delay of over an hour for our food!! I couldnt believe it, we were absolutely starving and were now being told that we would have to wait a ridiculous amount of time just to order a roast dinner! The head waiter came over to explain that when the pub was reopened for business they didnt realise that outside customers would order food together with those customers inside I mean I ask you!! Despite having huts outside they didnt realise this? What an incredibly poor excuse! The place was busy and they didnt seem to care whether we stayed or not so we left and went to The Selkirk where we had a great roast dinner in less than 20 minutes from time of order! The Castle looked good but the service is beyond SLOW! Probably not the best place to visit for a Sunday roast if youre actually hungry!
