I have not eaten at the Wheatsheaf properly, just some bar snacks but had drinks there a fair bit. Since the revamp the interior is amazing! Such a nice feel and there is nothing better than a place with lovely toilets!! Staff are friendly.
Worst Sunday Lunch in South London!. I’ve been living in London (Balham) for 16 years now. I finally moved to Tooting Bec and have heard so many good things about this Pub. Unfortunately the Sunday Roast is the worst Roast that i have had in 16 years.Raw uncooked Red Cabbage with cold Vinegar, Soggy greasy Roast Potato’s, Aunt Bessie Yorkshire Pudding (Cold and soggy) Cold what looks like pre-sliced processed meat and shocking gravy, and over cooked Veg. And on top of that, they wanted the best part of 15.On being asked how was my Roast, i said that apart from all of the points above it was nice. She smiled and walked away. Clearly Sarcasm is wasted on her. This is the sister pub of the lovely BBC Bar and The Hagen & Hyde in Balham, both of which serve a decent Roast. I highly recommend you try the Avalon in Clapham South, or either of the above mentioned pubs for a decent Roast. The Avalon is by far the best Roast in the Balham/Clapham and Tooting area. And they open at 12pm for lunch, unlike the Wheatsheaf which open for lunch at 1pm?? I know, what’s that all about. People do get hungry at 12pm!!Avoid the Wheatsheaf for food totally!!!! The pub itself for drinks is fine, but NOT Sunday Roast!!!
Lovely quirky and charming. Friendly staff, a wonderful neighbourhood pub.
A beautiful pub, with great beer and lovely atmos. But after 150 years Tesco are calling last orders and want to kill off the Wheatsheaf and build a minimart. You can help stop them by signing the petiiton on 38 degrees. Tell you friends or it’s all over for the Tooting Wheatsheaf.
Antic take over. Antic have just taken over the beautiful Wheatsheaf and are in the process of returning it to it’s Victorain roots. In the mean time we can promise you great beer and the sort of service you expect in a great British Boozer
