I happened to be staying at the hotel so I visited the restaurant for dinner on one of the nights. The atmosphere is okay – problem is I have been coming to the same venue for breakfast for a week so any vibe this place had was spoilt by that. The staff are friendly but don’t seem overly knowledgeable when it comes to the menu and are in fact are bit clumsy in their execution. I ordered the duck for a starter and the steak on the rocks for main and the brownie for dessert – all with a number of cocktails. For some reason the steak was brought to me before the duck but that was quickly fixed. The duck was ok – a bit too dry for my liking. The steak was quite nice and so was the presentation. The brownie was ordinary – the dish in fact lacked a sauce of some sort – it was made up of peanut butter powder, pieces of brownie, pieces of peanut butter ice cream and a chocolate ice cream scoop the middle with some scattered pieces of purple coloured sponge cake. Without a chocolate or caramel sauce the whole thing was way too dry and therefore was a disappointment. The cocktails on the other hand were indeed really well done. Overall this place is okay but nothing out of this world. You can tell the chef is really trying – he/she is clearly creative but is not quite there yet. Still needs some refining.
We had lunch, the menu, the service every thing different. The food was tasty and the portion good for a lunch. Staff was polite clean. A nice place to go decor and view wort it.

Chino Latino is a modern Pan-Asian cuisine restaurant. The misleading name derives from the combination of far-eastern fusion cuisine with a Latin Cocktail Bar and not the combination of Asian and Latin flavours. Fortunately, Chino Latino is a slick and well healed success of fusion and not confusion. The restaurant is located inside the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel on the Albert Embankment. It is decorated in a sophisticated minimalist come nightclub style dcor, which looks better at night than at day. The club style bar and dimly lit dining area suit the Chino Latino concept, but is at odds with slightly strange mix of its clientele. They predominantly tend to be jetlagged hotel guests, tourists, business types, work colleagues and romantic couples. This arbitrary mix of diners is not very clubland. Added to this is the habitual eerie emptiness of the place, sometimes even on Friday or Saturday evenings. The resulting atmosphere is routinely underwhelming and sometimes soulless. The reasons for this are a mystery, as the food and customer service at this restaurant consistently ranges from very good to fabulous. The innovative menu draws upon the flavours of China and modern Japan, with a helping of South-East Asian influences for good measure. The food here generally looks picture perfect amazing.A good place to start the evening is at the star attraction Latin style bar. There is a good selection of cocktails and a mocktails that help to submerge you into the Latino bar concept, such as the double strength Mojitos. A few of these and the nightclub colours of the bar will seem very soothing indeed. The dining area is a more dimly light, relaxed and understated affair. Diners are presented with the option of eating from the A La Carte Menu, the Set Tasting Menus or from a selection of Bento Boxes, the latter being a good option for anyone new to Pan-Asian food or seeking a light lunch. The Bento Boxes are available during lunch and from 6-7pm in the evening. The Chino Latino concept places an emphasis on diners sharing their dishes and the set Tasting Menus are an example of this. These are great for sharing amongst a group of two or more and are also a clever way of sampling a cross section of the menu. My favourite was the Rengin Chino Tasting Menu at 49 per person for a minimum of two diners. It consisted of Maki Rolls, Rock Shrimp Tempura Rolls, a Beetroot Salad, Wagyu Beef Taquitos, four small dishes of Grilled Scallops, Calamari, Chilean Sea Bass and Crayfish Gyoza, two main dishes of Sirloin Steak on Hot Rocks and Chilean Sea Bass and, finally, a Dessert Platter! Admittedly, the tapas style Tasting Menu is more of a mini banquet and also represents the best value option. Of the dishes from the A La Carte Menu, I can recommend: the delectable Stuffed Chilli & Soft Shell Crab, the very moreish Calamari (with Tamarind Dressing, Tomato, Red Onion & Mint), the Black Cod in a Spicy Miso Dressing, the Chilean Sea Bass (with a Smoked Chipotle Miso and Tenderstem Broccoli), the English Sirloin Steak on Hot Rocks, the Lamb Cutlets marinated in Korean Hot Pepper Paste & Wasabi Cream, the Lobster & King Crab with Yuzu & Chilli Garlic Hollandaise and the Yellow Curry with Crinkled Vegetables. Unfortunately, I have never really made it to the Dessert section because of the trouser busting starters and mains. Please do note, however, that whilst the Starters and ‘Taste Menu’s’ generally have good sized portions, the Main Course Dishes from the A La Carte Menu have a tendency to be a little underwhelming in size, from time to time. This I a shame, especially when considering the price and the expectations set by the Starters. The preponderance of the dishes are consistently delicious and encapsulate the vibrant excitement of the far-east. Each tends to be very different from the last, exciting in aroma and taste and prepared to high standards. There are some classic flavour combinations as well many new innovative pairings. Although most of the dishes taste even better then they look, there can be a few below par disappointments. The Kani Kani Nigiri is such a dish. After eating the Soft Shell Crabs and Calamari, the Nigiri is a shocking let down. I say shocking because the aforementioned dishes had jump-started my palette, elevating my taste buds up to a very happy place, before the flavourless Nigiri suddenly brought them crashing back down. It was the culinary equivalent of having a gastronomic ice bath and definitely one to avoid, unless you like ice baths that is. However, even a rare below average dish such as the Nigiri is miraculously transformed by the marvellous array of dressings and sauces that accompany each dish. These truly tantalise your taste buds. Most dishes have their own bespoke sauce or dressing that is simply wonderful, and, in the case of the Nigiri, can steal the show from the food itself. The chefs have been very clever alchemists, creating some truly amazingly flavoured dressings and sauces with scintillating flavour combos. I love cooking and eating far-eastern food and have travelled the region many times. My wife and I loved trying to guess all the ingredients in the sauces and how some of could be replicated at home.Service was impeccable, very attentive and on a par with the standards of most 5 star hotel resorts. The waiters and waitresses are immaculately presented, intelligent, well trained in customer service and knowledgeable in both food and drink. They carefully guide you through the menus and suggest the best accompanying beverages for your chosen meal. The courses are staggered with exactly the right time periods in between each course, allowing one to savour each course without being rushed. All the waiters and waitresses that I have come across clearly believe in the Chino Latino brand and its ethos, as they sell you the concept and are passionate about their work. The smiling faces and great customer service come at the cost of a 12.5% discretionary tip. It is automatically added to your bill, so that you will either be far too embarrassed to ask for it to be removed or be too drunk from the mojitos to realise. However, chances are that by now the food and service have thoroughly allured you into becoming a fan boy/girl and you will pay it willingly anyway.I have really enjoyed dining at Chino Latino. It instantly transports me back to my favourite holidays in Asia by way of a gastronomic thunderbolt experience. The restaurant, its food and its staff are all beautifully presented and consistently deliver a high-end experience. To this end, Chino Latino more than succeeds and easily intoxicates most people into coming again. I think the biggest problem the restaurant has is that it is not located in the West-End of London. There it would have also succeeded in attaining the atmosphere, vibe, and cosmopolitan diners that the Latino bar is crying for and with food and service this good, it would never be eerily quiet.
My friend took me here on my last trip to London on a recommendation and we were not disappointed at all. We loved this place. Staff was very helpful and informative. Menu was long and the explained the cuisines and different items and also made recommendations. I had sushi and my friend ordered soft shell crab. The sushi was the best I ever had. Amazing and very beautifully presented. Wine list was great and our waiter made us the best recommendation. I really liked the food and ambience and I will definitely recommend this place.
I visited this place yesterday with friend. Chinos have an Asian-fusion theme and I loved this place for its very friendly yet professional service and great menu. For starters we had sea bass & crayfish dumplings, soft shell crab tempura, and crispy duck. Seas bass was mine and it tasted great. For mains we had pork ribs, duck breast and the beef short ribs. All items were presented beautifully. Portions were well sized and very tasty; great wine selection, as well as nice cocktails. Deserters were great too, I had passion fruit cheesecake and it was very great, soft and delicious. We loved this place and we are definitely returning.
