Generous-size home-style Portuguese food. Good flavours overall but could be fresher and nicer. I had Polvo a Lagareiro (Octopus) and it was good but the veggies that came with it were a bit too soggy. Desserts were ok but the wine was pretty good. The atmosphere is more of a pub than a restaurant. Service was ok.

No need to go to Portugal, Bar Estrela transports you there without the horrible Ryanair flight.Mostly Portuguese patrons, the restaurant is truly targeted to that community. The food is typical Portuguese food, coffees that are made properly and cheap beer. They have an outdoor seating area, which is where most everyone sits. You can literally lounge for hours and no one will bother you.Recently, my flatmate and I go here for breakfast on Saturday mornings. The coffee is great and their omelets are super. Best part, super cheap! They also have a good take-out service.Note: nearly all the staff speak Portuguese and English is not a forte.

Bar Estrela is another Portuguese cafe/restaurant where you’re not only made to feel welcome but the food and drink they serve are absolutely delicious! My latest dish there was a simple breaded chicken sandwich (sandes de frango panado) now this might not seem like the most exciting dish but i promise you it went down a treat! The chicken was properly marinated therefore it was tasty and crispy and the bread was soft. Serving time was quick, and the staff were friendly and courteous. A great place for a light snack or meal! Though they have some fantastic dishes that will be sure to fill you up if you want more than a sandwich! 🙂

After spending 100 can’t order a taxi??!. I have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions before. In the past the food has been nice, and staff pleasant. However, I took a client for a meeting last Friday. We both sat, drank and spent just under 100. The waiter and the food was fine. However, what caused me an enormous amount of embarrassment and disappointment was when I asked the waiter to call a taxi for my colleague who had to leave early. I had arranged to meet with my wife, and she also came to the restaurant.I was shocked when the waiter told me that there was a mini cab office around the corner, and it was clearly a big problem that I had asked him to order a mini cab.Eventually, after some persuasion the waiter reluctantly brought me a card for the taxi office. Everyone i the vicinity could see that there were two other members of staff who did not want our waiter to call a taxi. For me this was unacceptable. I see no reason why anyone would refuse to call a taxi for a customer. At any rate, I think that both of those know why they acted like this, and I think that I know too. That said, I will NEVER take my business there again. And if you are a local businessman, I would advise you to think twice!
