We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and as hotel food goes, it’s not bad at all. Yes it’s on the expensive side, but we were converting from rands. Service is great, really homely and welcoming – a true indication of a top hotel. I like the fact that they make homemade dough for the pizza, not just order bases. You can really taste the difference. The deserts are delicious as well, worth the price in calories.

High expectations – let down. We booked a table in the restaurant for 6 on a Monday! but when we arrived they seated us at a table with only 4 places set and not enough chairs. 1 hour 15 minutes from sitting down to being served food, (only ordered a main). Also they don’t have any coca cola on draught so if you’re driving and order a coke they serve you with a MINITURE sized bottle of coke and charge you 2 for it. The food was decent enough and nicely cooked but over priced and very slow service. You have to pay extra for Bearnaise sauce with steak!?. You pay for the surroundings so if you like 19th Century converted warehouses, you won’t be disappointed but otherwise it left a rather bad taste of being ripped off. They should be able to do better at a place like this.

The food was ok although I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare and if I’m honest it was a little dry. The waitresses were polite and pleasant however drinks seemed to take aged once ordered to arrive, but I would say this was down to managment and allocating staff. Lastly the lighting at our table was very poor despite the waiteress bring some candles at some points I couldn’t see what I was eating. Overall a nice meal but for theMoney I was being charged I’d expect better and the blame must fall on the management for the set up both of the restraurant and staff
