  • Very warm inside the bar, too much smoke to sit outside. Sausages were okay but chips were terrible and so was the service. Never going again.…

Sadly not what I expected… No warm nor friendly welcome from anyone behind the bar & why is there a coffee shop in a pub??? The food seems soked in oil, chips not done… And on top of that you can see that the owner has no passion for the venue as it looks rather run down, not what one would expect from German management… Typos in the menu & spelling mistakes on the blackboards make it look worse. Hope it picks up at some point!

Am sorry to disappoint i was not impressed with what this guys offer. The food for starters was sadly disgusting not to mention the waiting one and a half hour and it was not busy. The icing on this cake was how expensive this was. I ask why would you be so unique, but no pride or soul and fly your flag but with no passion and shame. Their only successful shop was the one in waterloo lunchbox although it had been let out to someone else. The guy their new what he was doing. he was passionate, with great care and almost like he new what we wanted as he changed his menu daily. His stuff was fresh and the cakes the best ever!! His staff and everyone that worked their where lovely and know the meaning of good, fast and friendly service. You could smell his food from a far and the line outside never seem to stop. But greedy is what you get nowadays. The shop is now back to the (zeitgeist) and need i say any more> as you would expect not much but no thought on the food been sold sad. Lunch time has never been so boring in waterloo.just zeitgeist just a nameI would not recommend!!!

Whatcha talking about? this is fantastic!. Not sure what the reviewers from the 9/feb were on about but clearly they must have been in a different pub. In fact I myself was there ON the 9/Feb and the staff were as fantastic as ever. Their food is authentic and so yummy, the selection of beers are great and either the football is on or the 80’s music videos fill the pub and puts a finishing touch on the great atmosphere. This is too far away to be my local pub by distance but I make an effort to come here. Hope the curmudgeon reviewers cheer up 🙂

Going here spoilt an otherwise lovely evening.. I’ve just been there. Lousy almost hostile welcome and the staff were way to keen to keen to throw everyone out at 10.30 (on a Thursday night – turned off TV’s that people were watching, stacking chairs around people that were sat at tables etc)! Staff were otherwise unwelcoming in the extreme (that’s English for rude, obstructive and underserving of custom). I went because I’ve been studying German and thought it might be a great place to go after a hard evenings studying …. how wrong I was!

Inexcusable service. I have been to this pub twice and received the worst service I have ever seen in a British Pub. The distain and contempt for the customer was not to be believed, Reasonably good food on offer, but in no way resembles any experience I’ve ever come across in Germany. This is truly a pub which deserves to go out of business.

As others have said the buffet on wednesdays and Fridays is brilliant and well priced, doubly so for central London. Beer selection is huge ( and not just the usual suspects either) and more expensively priced, a nice touch if you can afford it! Lovely place, I definitely plan to come back.

Best German Place in London. The beer is great, the food is good, the atmosphere is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Always worth going, but make sure if you don’t like watching sports that you call in advance and make sure it’s not a Bundesliga or Champions League night when a German team is playing because most of the place will be reserved and it will be loud. 🙂
