This was a decent enough place for a post-work drink. Despite being right next to Victoria station, it didn’t feel like the average pub where tourists and luggage get washed up.With some nice outdoor seating to enjoy the last few nice evenings of 2014, it’s a great place to perch and admire the suited and booted that congregate after work. Drinks are cheap and they have a variety of the usual types of things, including a very generous 2for1 deal on cocktails and prosecco. They have some food but this is more of a ‘drinks and nibbles’ kind of place, and not somewhere I’d consider for a dinner. The staff are nice enough, serving drinks without a massive wait. I noticed them serving quite a few teas and coffees as well as beers and spirits, so it’s an allrounder for anyone looking for a thirst quenching resolution.I wouldn’t go out of my way to this place, nor would I rush back to sit in their slightly worse-for-wear chairs (it’s just a matter of time before one of those stools buckles beneath someone’s weight!) but for a cheap tipple and an easy location for after work, it did alright. londonismyplayground.wordpress.com
I had a groupon for this place in Victoria which included a cheese board and 2 large glasses of wine. First impressions walking in were not great – it just looked like a small bar. There were a few couches and tables for people to socialise after work. However, it isn’t until you walk down to the basement and discover the beauty of it. It used to be an old bank but its been refurbished, yet the vaults are still there and are like little private pods with tables and couches lit by candles. It’s a bit dark and smells musty but its a vault so it’s to be expected. The cheese board wasn’t very nice and had about 6 crackers and a small range of cheeses. I would definitely return for drinks and to impress my friends with a great London find!
