Did not like the food they serve. As it is too pricey for the amount we paid. Also, nothing new or good in the menu. We had prawn dumplings, chilli chicken and egg rice. Unfortunately, only egg rice was good. The place is usually empty but the staff still doesn’t bother to serve one or few customers that they get. Only great thing about the place is its ambience. But again the AC wasn’t working in this 31 degrees.

A Chinese restaurant near Victoria station. Food is very straightforward, nothing exciting, some dishes maybe rather boring in taste. Just what you would expect from an average Chinese eatery or takeaway. Fine for a quick meal here and now, but not an option for a more enjoyable food experience. sweervywine.com

We arranged to entertain guests we had visiting from Shanghai. We pre-ordered the Imperial Beijing Duck when we made the reservation on their website as you need to give advance notice. When we arrived at the restaurant they had our reservation but not the pre-ordered duck. They were quite rude in their disregard for our pre-order insisting it was never on the reservation. The service seemed to not get any better from that point on. The food was at best adequate and can be clearly seen as bastardised to meet a more western palate. Where there should have been spice, like in the mapo tofu, there was nothing. The rest of our meal was uninspiring and disappointing for not only our guests but for us as well. For the prices charged versus the bland quality of food, this is over rated and doesn’t represent value at all. I contacted the restaurant again after our visit via their website to provide feedback and have had no response in over a week, Clearly customer service is not a quality they regard highly.

What a great dinner meal we spent at this great Chinese place! We ordered so many things, from spring rolls, shrimps, eggplant, etc… For the main it was the sweet and sour chicken, noodles, lemon chicken and breaded chicken! Overall very good experience! Fast service and friendly staff!!

Wonderful place. Typical chinese restaurant. Fried seaweed, grilled dumpling were great choices. Crispy duck was marvellous. Have to make reservation in advance. Reserve for turning table.

Many peoples conception of Chinese food is always based on their local around the corner either they will braging about it and saying to their friends when ordering from their Chinese takeaway yours was okay but it wasn’t as good as mine…..or they will be ready to try or give up on their local due to greasy and unhealthy results of their many attempts to get a nice takeaway. However Ken Lo’s is not your local takeaway, in fact even in the full name it’s ‘Ken Lo’s memories of China’.In the heart of Belgravia close to Victoria station it had to be tried. The welcoming was slow and tiresome but when the waiters came they were pleasant and patient with the taking of our orders as you won’t see many of your local and the dishes you usually order at your local. The tiresome service was most likely due to their fancy and fussy upmarket clientel who desire everything to be perfect! But the interior was everything you expect from a up market Chinese restaurant with classic design as well as modern extras of sliding doors for private rooms. The food came at a nice rate we ordered many starters and mains but the stars of the show were squid in black bean sauce which was not overpowering and just the right amount of sauce,iron-plate sizzled mixed seafood….Scallops were cooked to perfection. The Cantonese sweet and sour pork deserves a mention too, the overall service and experience was a delightful one I will certainly return. If you want freshly made Chinese food….look no furtherCost – 20 – Drinks 6Group size – 2-4ppl Location: 65-69 Ebury Street, London, Sw1w 0NZ Carlstimeout rating – 7.5/10 carlstimeout.com

West Meets East. Chinese cuisine is as robust and refined as French cuisine, but people rarely get to experience fine Chinese food, being more accustomed to Chinese takeaways. It’s nice, then, to go to a restaurant that presents Chinese food in a fine dining environment. It’s not quite a perfect fit, however, and one wonders if the well-heeled clientele know they could get equally good food for much cheaper in Chinatown.Traditional Chinese family-style service is abandoned in the individual orders of soup. A shame, too, because I could have had an entire tureen of the pepper-pot fish soup, a delicious, fresh fish broth punched up with scallions, cilantro and slices of ja choy (pickled vegetable). The rest of the dishes are served family-style, each well-cooked, particularly a dish of prawn-stuffed shitake mushrooms and a plate of fried noodles made fresh. The fit of Western and Eastern dining traditions shows wear in a clay pot of mixed vegetables and fried tofu. This is about as basic a dish as you can find in Chinese cuisine, and while the vegetables are fresh, the fried tofu is sliced thinly resulting in a dry, chewy texture instead of the soft, giant wedges of tofu you’ll get elsewhere. Also of note, Memories of China replaces jasmine rice with short grain rice served from a bamboo steamer. It’s a simple variation, but the kind of flourish that the restaurant should do more of.
