I don’t normally go to Croydon very often & at certain times of the year I visit Wing Yip supermarket. This restaurant is your standard Chinese restaurant like any other. We had lunch here so dim sum it was. We picked a few dishes: Chicken claws with blackbean sauce, shui mei, whelks in curry sauce, char siu cheung fun, turnip paste and chicken with Chinese mushroom rice claypot. If you have read my past reviews about dim sum. I always have the same or similar dishes to compare to. Starting with the turnip paste, it had an appetising crust on the outside but it had lacked seasoning. The chicken claws in blackbean sauce was good and had a little spicyness to it. Shui mei was ok though the prawns were smaller like shrimps rather being actual prawns. The whelks in curry sauce was ok, not the right combination I rather had it in satay sauce. The claypot rice was didn’t have the wow factor rather plain in texture and no seasoning. Lastly, the char sui cheung fun was nothing special. Again lack of seasoning, I couldn’t taste the ‘roast’ flavour in the pork which was somewhat disappointing. The staff seem pleasent enough & a quick service check.

Tai Tung is one of the best Chinese restaurants in South London. They serve up incredibly tasty Chinese food that is popular with both orientals and non-orientals alike.The food is authentic and mouth-watering. I would recommend their Dim Sum at it is scrumptious. Tai Tung really is a hidden gem. The service is quick but unfriendly.Its only major downside is that it is a little difficult to get to and it doesn’t deliver (though you can collect food). However, if you can get there then it is really worth it.
