Since the previous great reviews, last one over a year ago, something’s happened to this restaurant. Having moved to the area, we ordered a takeaway – the daily ‘specials’ – a vegetable curry and a chicken curry plus a Salmon & Avocado Sushi Don without the avocado (each dish around 10).The Salmon Sushi Don consisted of only 4 thin mean slices of salmon on top of a quantity of rice, the chicken curry (whilst the sauce was tasty), comprised only 3 small pieces of chicken and several chunks of potato plus rice and the vegetable curry, with the same curry sauce, consisted of only a mix of diced vegetables – carrot, sweetcorn, green beans & peas (looked and tasted like frozen mixed veg) and again, several chunks of potato plus rice.Very unappetizing, uninspiring, overpriced and very poor portion size. The Sushi Shop at Sth Kensington, usually considered expensive, offers much better quality, better presentation and more than double the quantity of quality salmon for only a few pounds more. Never again – I’d rather travel to Sth Kensington.
Love this restaurant!. This is a really wonderful spot – the food is consistently delicious and fresh and the attention to little details in serving it are charming. It’s a little hidden away off the beaten track but well worth seeking out for really wonderful Japanese food. A special treat in a neighbourhood too flooded with so-so options.
