There were a few hiccups in service such as one of the mains being brought out with the starter but the food couldn’t be faulted and that’s what really matters. The staff were friendly and, at first, very attentive. They were even accommodating enough to allow us to order lunch from the dinner specials. For starters I had the hog shank and savoy cabbage terrine served neatly on a black slate plate without delay. I could have easily been content just having that for lunch but I’m glad I had some room left for my main which was a tender pork belly in ciabatta with apple sauce. Big thumbs up on both accounts. The atmosphere is very bright and comfortable and we would have loved to continue enjoying it over a coffee or dessert but unfortunately we couldn’t get anyone’s attention for over thirty minutes. Aside from a couple grumbles though, it was a good experience on the whole and situated in a nice area.
I will have to say that the best thing about GB Grill is their location. Located very discreetly in the Tower Bridge area I was delighted to spend a couple of hours during my lunch break here. Very casual atmosphere and great service; unfortunately the Fish & Chips weren’t up to the mark but I wouldn’t mind trying out something else off their menu. Definitely going back because of the convenience factor
When the sun is out – GB is one of my favorite places to hang out. Love the chilled out atmosphere and love sitting out in the sun with a pint. I have been there a few times – love the steak and the chicken. This one day I did step out of my comfort zone and I ordered Fish and chips which was not great but it was partly my fault ordering Fish and chips at a grill. Apart from that they do really nice chips – one of the best I’ve had! Great place for lunch and they have great lunch specials too during the week. Wish they did brunch – would love to go there on a nice sunny Sunday for a hungover meal!
Had been eyeing up this place for a while before I finally decided to visit. Seemed like the perfect setting to catch up with a close friend I hadn’t seen for agessss. I know the place used to be connected with Greg Wallace off Masterchef so I was intrigued to see how it was faring without the celebrity tag accompanying it.Luckily we were able to get a booth which gave us the seclusion to have that good ole chat and find out each others trials and tribulations for the last few months. Although the prices are a bit higher than your average grill the place has a casual feel although other tables are never too intrusive which is nice.I had to go for the steak which takes pride of place in the centre of the grill menu (Hanger Medium Rare – 14) which was very nice and tender with a lovely flavour to the meat. After a taste my friend was complimenting the sauce before I had even put it on which shows the natural flavour of the good quality meat. The chips weren’t quite as I like them unfortunately (I prefer thin cut fries) however I did finish the portion and it is the expected variety of a good british grill. My companion decided to go for the lamb chops, which unfortunately were a bit dry, however the flavouring did make up for it and we were nibbling away at the bones to make sure we got every last bit (It really must be done!)Washed down with a nice bottle of the house wine the total came to 54 (including service) which is very good value in my opinion for a nice night out. An additional note was the excellently attentive service, which I feel always makes the experience ever the more enjoyable. Will definitely return, let’s hope we don’t leave too much time before the next catch up!
Have been to GB Bar and Grill a couple of times now and I have to say it is one of those places I would like to keep coming back to for three reasons 1) it is away from the hustle bustle of the city so you can enjoy meeting a friend after ages or even have a business meeting in a very relaxed setting 2) the menu is simple, just about the right set of options that doesn’t confuse you for hours and 3) and what matters most, the food, preparation and service is top notch. Have tried the Chicken breast for dinner and their breakfast menu as well and both have not disappointed at all. The service was amazing. They were willing to customise the order too and it was great to see that they were so accommodating. Would definitely pay another visit – question is whether it will be for breakfast or lunch.. maybe both.
I have been following the Bermondsey Square Hotel on FB for a while now but never went to try the restaurant as it did not appeal to me…..until the name changed and I saw some great pictures of the new lounge area at GB Grill and Bar so had to try it out given that I live just a short walk from the hotel. The restaurant is open plan but you have the choice of sitting in a booth which I loved as I was out with my girlfriends and we felt like we had our own little exclusive table. The staff were smiley and attentive which is always nice to see!We thought it would be an idea to eat some small plates to go alongside our multiple bottles of wine we were drinking but small plates there were not! The portions were a good size and even though there were a few of us picking away, we still had left overs. The squid was divine and I definitely recommend it!Overall my experience was great and apparently the restaurant dcor is not finished so I will certainly be back when it is all done!
