Village East is a great restaurant to go for brunch/lunch with friends, especially after checking out all the cool shops and the White Cube on the trendy Bermondsey Street. The food is great, as is the service. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict and the Cucumber Mary!
Sunday brunch was a treat; my half serve of eggs and avocado benedict, with delicious cheesy gluten free toast went exceptionally well with some requested chilli jam on the side. Lovely staff, very accommodating and friendly.
Great menu but sadly loses points on small details such as using plain, sliced toast bread (shop bought?) instead of fresh sourdough, and slow and distracted service. Good on allowing dogs and babies pastabites.co.uk
Lobster benedict!. Old English charm meets trendy industrial. The mismatched reclaimed furniture and attentive service reward you with a warm homely feel. With the half serving options I went with the lobster and eggs together with the cranberry granola and a shared serving of the berry compote and clotted cream buttermilk pancakes. Food coma! It was delicious!
Bad food, premium prices. …. Bad food, premium prices. The drinks, service and ambience are what you expect for the prices paid at this restaurant, but the food certainly is not. The squid entree was soggy and poorly prepared (with the beak left in the squid), and at 20 quid the lobster roll was overly salty minced seafood which could have been any type of meat. Won’t be going back.
Watch out. Ridiculous seating arrangements for Diners.. Living local, village east has always been a brilliant haunt and the recent refurb is top. However this Sunday I booked for 5 adults to lunch and were shown to a table in the cocktail area that was more fitting for a cramped Alice in Wonderland children’s tea party. Fine for lounging cocktails, not suitable for long legged adults hungry for the great villlage east Sunday roast. The staff were run ragged and did their best in a losing situation. We were lucky and were moved to a grown ups table but noticed others equally dismayed when similarly seated at the weany low slung cocktail tables. Village east please keep your standards high and book your Sunday roast lunchers into a space fitting for purpose. Liz
The most terrible restaurant in London. Service was great but the portions are extortionist. 7 pound for 2 pieces of beetroot, our meals came with huge gaps between them. Hugely expensive for what it is. Very dissapointing.
