Why did we wait so long to try Coopers Thai? We’ve lived localy for 20 years and friends had recommended Coopers Thai and I’ve seen it in Time out etc yet we only went to the restaurant for the first time about 3 years ago. The staff are friendly and assist with food recommendations and we love the cosy dining area. We have returned many times since and enjoy take aways too. The food is amazing, really tasty and well presented.

We went to Cooper Thai restaurant on Valentine evening, 14.2.15, after reading good reviews but we were terribly disappointed. As it was Valentine evening, the place was filled (also busy with takeaways), we had a very long wait for starter and main meal, the waiter was friendly and apologetic. The king prawn (only 4 pieces) in batter was not king prawn at all, the prawn flesh was the width of a biro, heavily battered, no flavour of fresh prawn at all. Seafoods eg prawns, fish, crab, mussels, if fresh all shouldhave special seafood flavour particular to each type but these prawns were totallybland. If smothered with sauces, you miss the flavour of the seafood. The seafood salad had yet again only 3 flavourless prawns, 3 pieces of squid, 2 flavourless mussells, in a small tossed salad. The chicken green curry was very small portion. The chicken green curry flavour was not as good/authentic as our usual takeaway. The steamed jasmine coconut rice came in a small coconut shell, very small portion, about two thirds of a mug in volume.Very warm/friendly waiter/waitress but expensive for the quality/waiting and unfortunately we will not be returning.
