A great lunch. I had to organise a Sunday lunch for a group of eight, half-way between London and Hampshire recently and this little pub definitely fit the bill. Good produce (fish and game in particular), confident cooking, very friendly service and a warm feel to the place. My five year old dined with us and it didn’t concern the owners/staff in the slightest. They offered to make a child size main unprompted and were most welcoming.

The Great British Gastropub. If you’re looking for fine wines, great food and relaxing surroundings, then there is no better place for a meal with friends than the Inn at West End, Surrey. On a warm day or evening why not dine out under the pagoda while overlooking the gardens including a herb and vegetable garden which supplies the restaurant kitchen with fresh produce. If there are two of you then the Mediterranean Hors d’uvres is a wonderful place to start. The soft roasted vegetables topped on a slice of aubergine, are full of flavour and they compliment the Parma ham, haloumi cheese and homemade sun blushed tomato dip that is served with them. There is a bountiful but not over the top menu filled with wonderful dishes like homemade lamb Burgers, Guinea Fowl wrapped in pastry, Pork Loin wrapped in Parma ham with a mushroom risotto and cherry tomatoes on the vine or, 23 day old aged rump steak with a red wine butter.Alongside the beautiful food which is presented to 5 star standards you can enjoy a glass or indeed a bottle of wine selected from the Inn’s very own Wine Shop situated on the premises. To finish off the Chocolate brownies with Pistachio parfait with macadamia nougat is a dream made in heaven and simply melts in your mouth! All in all, the Inn at West End is certainly worth the drive to and will quickly become a firm favourite with all. One thing to note is that children under 5 are not allowed into the pub and only well behaved children are welcomed, which ensures that you can enjoy your meal with family or friends or loved ones in peaceful relaxing grown up atmosphere. The Inn at West End can be found at 42 Guildford Road, Westend Surrey.Online now at voucherchoice.com The Inn at West End is offering some fantastic discounts in both the restaurant and the wine shop through http://www.voucherchoice.com register online for more details.Let us know at Voucher Choice about great restaurants you like to eat at!

The inn @ west end is a cracking gastro pub, and it’s no wonder why they have won numerous awards the food is excellent! In Retalliation to MG’s review, if you have been here before with friends you would have seen a nice sign on the entrance (at eye level) saying no work clothes, No children. Intact the only way you wouldn’t see it is if you are 2ft tall/ completely blind or you simply can’t read. I would definately recommend the inn if you like a place that does great posh food that’s not overly priced good beer/larger and superb selection of wines. This place is not for hard to please wingers, pikeys or miserable pillocks if you are go to the hare and hounds down the road.

Don’t Accept Children. Having been a guest of someone at this average pub, I returned with my family but was told that my son would not be admitted. I know there will be diverse views on this but good manners aren’t acquired by not being allowed to eat out. IMHO I have been offended by loud and/or inebriated adults on many more occasions than I have by children. Its not as if this was a central London private business dining room or some such place. And how it has allegedly won awards for its food is also a mystery; at least 25% of the menu was unavailable at the start of service on our earlier visit with no explanation offered. What was available wasn’t special. Try the Olive Tree at Sutton Green; a far better bet.Oh and as for ‘1 review’ Gavin above:a) there was no sign when I went – I can read. But the principle offends me anyway. As they say, ‘children are natural mimics who act like their parents despite every effort to teach them good manners.’b) He voted for Jamie’s Italian?! Says it all I fear.
