Good indian pan Asian food!! Staff is nice and friendly ! Went with my sister and 8yr old kid and 3year old kid they both enjoyed the food as well all in all a good experience !!! Their panner chilli and schezwan noodle is really good !!!
It’s a quaint little place tucked in the streets of west end lane. We ordered a green curry, paneer chilli, veg tom kha and a pad thai. The paneer chilli is actually an indo chinese dish which is really good!!The thai curry and pad thai were just regular nothing extraordinary. However the tom kha was unfortunately really bad. Maybe I expected a type of soup I gave tasted however this one was not upto that level. I think the coconut milk separated and it was really oily and did not taste good at all.For 20 pounds it was a reasonable bill.I would go again for the paneer chili though.
Fantastic pan-Asian – Indo-Chinese, Thai food. Fresh ingredients. Friendly service. Cool decor.Great for take aways and reasonable on the wallet
Go big on starters, maybe even skip the mains – the starters are truly delicious, with great variety and strong flavours. I love the pepper chilli lamb (not too hot actually), and the paneer is great too.The mains seem seriously lacking in flavour and use unnecessarily low quality meat. Ultimately lets the restaurant down.Service is patchy and they often need reminders for drinks, even on weekday lunchtimes with only a few tables full.
Toomai is the latest restaurant from the people behind Guglee, one of the nicest local Indian restaurants in London. It’s a reasonably priced menu with lots of classic Asian dishes available. The pad thai does what it says on the tin and is perfect lunchtime food. londonisforliving.com
The atmosphere is very buzzy and lively, although this made it a tad too noisy at times to have a conversation. The staff were very friendly, service was quick, and if seated in the right place as we were, you can see all the goings on in the kitchen:.We shared starters and mains (one each) and chose paneer chilli (indian cottage cheese [their description not mine] with onions, peppers and chilli sauce), spicy papaya salad (papaya, tomatoes, carrots, green beans and peanuts in a thai dressing) and beef salad (pan seared beef with carrots, onions, cucumber, mint and peppers). They were all quite spicy, as the name suggests. The paneer chilli was my favourite as it was the most interesting. The others were also good, and you could really taste the refreshing mint in the beef salad.Portions are big so I could have stopped there, but since it was already ordered, for main I had a chicken red curry with jasmine rice which was tasty, not too spicy, not too rich.Toomai is good value (we paid 16 each). A sound addition to the West Hampstead collection of restaurants. dinnerwithjo.com
