Food was not great, neither was the service. Too bad looks like it had potential. Also the sandwich they claim is huge really isn’t and comes with nothing.
Really wanted to like Yas. But in the end it was overpriced OK food in an alright environment with pretty bad service. The menu warns that the Persian Flatbread portion is large, but it wasn’t ridiculous and I was kind of expecting a coma-inducing mega wrap. By bad service I mean the wee waiter being impatient but in a knob way, not a straight to-the-point way.Think it’ll always be Best Mangal down the road for me.
Yas – used to be a tiny cosy place with decent food. I’ve been to this restaurant many years ago when we lived down the road. Recently I decided to go back and try the food. Since the time I walked in – I was horrified. They’ve increased the size of the restaurant but have managed to fill the space with cheap garish decor. We got a table in a dark corner just by the open kitchen. The restaurant was half full but we had to wait for over 10 minutes just for the menu. In the meantime there were four waiters having an argument with a customer over their bill. After drawing the attention of one of the waiters we finally got a set of menu. We ordered a drink each and houmous for starters. We waited another half an hour for the drink to arrive. We waited and observed waiters simply hanging out in the kitchen area and showing no interest towards the customers. One even said out loud to a colleague ‘make me my portion of flatbread, customers can wait’. A group of 15 people turned up and they were refused as there weren’t apparently enough staff to cater. Then we were told that they had run out of houmous. Yes, I know!! How can you run out of Houmous in a Persian restaurant?!The thing that put me off the most was the open kitchen. It looked so filthy that I wouldn’t even go into the details. The food itself was average, but the portion was quite large. Definitely not ever going back. It needs a better food, cleaner environment and better management!
Unreasonable cover charge. Food sucks as well. Waiters are rude. Having a minimum spend when the place is empty makes no sense at all. Hope you guys take note.
Yas is the best Persian in Hammersmith!!. The best Persian restaurant around the Hammersmith area, don’t miss the barbeque’d meats, especially the lamb kebabs!! Food is always fresh and so damn good!P.
Persian delight!. Check out the Koobideh open sandwich : delicious chargrilled lamb kebab, strongly recommended ! This place was great. Until next time Yas restaurant !
Delicious!. I’ve only eaten here once by absolute chance I was led in here by my boyfriend after going to a horse show at Olympia. I had an open Lamb sandwich called a ‘barg’ that was served in warm bread, obviously made that day and very good! My boyfriend had a chicken open sandwich that was also very good. The inside of the restaurant was really nice and we felt comfortable. We thought it was good value for what we got and walked out completely stuffed!
