At first I thought Halepi was the only Greek restaurant in London that is set up mostly to cater to Arab clientele, with dishes reminscent more of the Levant rather than Greece. But it turns out Aphrodite does the same as well. Like Halepi, it is a Cypriot restaurant and I understand the close resemblance with Levantine cuisine, but you can’t but sense this intentional tilt towards catering to Arabs in all details and not in an original manner. I could have sworn that the pita bread served is from Tesco. The pickles were good and the olives also good. The appetisers were less Greek and more Levantine, which I love but not what I expected at Aphrodite. The meat was good, yet had a certain dryness to it. In spite of the impressive decor, the place all in all just lacked some originality. 30 a person
Nice and traditional place. This restaurant is not one of those fancy places where you are paying for the location but a simply authentic local restaurant. The management is from Cyprus and they absolutely know what they serve. Friendly staff
Best Greek food I’ve ever had!. Greek food is my favorite. In Manitoba, Canada, where we live, I have tried every Greek restaurant. While honeymooning in London, we stumbled across this authentic Greek beauty. Knowledgeable staff that suggested amazing dishes, great prices and the best tzatziki I’ve ever had in my life. A must try and if I ever make it back to London, I will be back!
Traditional setting, excellent food and the friendliest staff in London.
The food was absolutely amazing. Both the grilled squid and house special chicken kabobs were exquisitely prepared and the friendliness of the staff made a very pleasant evening. Great atmosphere and great food at reasonable prices. I will definitely be back!!!
