Bearing in mind that Grillstock put on a food festival showcasing some of the finest BBQ in the UK I would have expected our meal here to be outstanding. Unfortunately, this restaurant is not a shining beacon for British smokehouses. The atmosphere is authentic with two huge smokers on site. The room looks good with bare brick and corrugated roofing but this appears to be style over substance. You will leave smelling of smoked pig but the aroma is better than the taste. Ribs were bone dry, pulled pork much the same and the brisket was ok but nowhere near the finest example. Service was functional at best. They really need a pitmaster who knows how to produce better food.

We were pleasantly surprised with a quick service, considering the fact that we only had 30 mins for lunch. Our lunch choice was BBQ ribs and hot dog with grilled sausage. Both were sideline red within 10 minutes, crispy fries and salad on side. We definitely enjoyed our quick and tasty lunch with their own chilled Ale which tasted really good with BBQ meat
