Sally Lunns one of Englands oldest Tea Houses! Lovely, little bun bakery & tea house – there is even a museum! The service was lovely, we had Sally Lunns Breakfast Tea which was an absolutely beautiful blend, it was just perfect one of the best tasting teas we have ever had! Very natural, aromatic flavour and it didnt go bitter in the pot! We dont want none, if dont got buns hunn! Sally Lunns sure does have buns! Beautiful, fresh and warm. You can have your buns with house made cinnamon butter, house made jam and cream, house made chocolate spread, house made lemon curd… the list is endless. TIP: Do try Sally Lunns buns with the house made cinnamon butter it is absolutely scrumptious.

Bit crowded but friendly staff and very nice and soft bun! Glad that we came in before all the people started queuing up. We had lemon curd bun and strawberry jam& cream. Asked how they make the bun so fluffy but they politely declined to tell me.

Worth a visit for the heritage but probably for afternoon tea rather than lunch. The buns themselves are quite sweet and personally I found didn’t quite suit a savoury meal. The soup of the day (pea and mint) however was really nice and so was the Sally Lunn tea, definitely worth trying. The interior is very cute and cozy plus staff so it makes for the perfect place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea.

Went in because it was near, and just loved the food. The 5 to 7 offer they have is great (13.5), and the bun was worth the expectation. The staff are awesome as well. I was there with 11 other people and the staff fixed a place for us right away!

Deeply entrenched into Bath’s tradition are public breakfasts, afternoon teas and the buns had therein, a lot of which came from Sally Lunn’s bakery back in the day. The place has a pretty rich history, too – there’s a museum underneath the building which now stands as the restaurant, that still houses the long-defunct wood burning (what may have evolved into today’s ‘wood-fired ovens’) where those deliciously famous buns were baked. The street itself has a history too. I’m told that the basement is where the road level used to be until the Georgian builders started lifting up some streets one floor, what with the flooding et al; turning the ground floors into cellars of sorts. The house itself has undergone a facelift or two…The bottom-line being that despite what much of what we see today may not have much left from the oldest house in bath, nonetheless, there’s still this rustic charm to it all; the fireplaces, the pretty chandeliers, the creaky wooden floorboards, the view of the street from the window and a general allure that I just can’t explain in words. My tryst with Sally Lunn’s was a short one and lasted all of one hour that I could not get enough of, over a classic Welsh Rarebit and a lovely Bath Ale – the Golden Rabbit. The Welsh Rarebit was served as a light, fluffy, warm toasted round slice of bread with a few different kinds of cheese melted together on top, served with a lovely, piquant sauce that almost had the texture of a marmalade, and there was also a fresh salad on the side to complete this wonderful dish. The Bath Ale that I had – the Golden Hare, was a beautiful golden beer that worked up a 1/2 inch head which faded to a near-zero lacing as it settled in. The beer was nice and hoppy and went down very easy. The whole package made for an unforgettable experience, just as advertised. All in all -Food – 5/5Service – 4.5/5Ambience – 4.5/5Value for money – 4/5 (Food here is great. Ergo, it demands a bit of a well-deserved premium) shutternerdblog.wordpress.com

Sally Lunns is a cafe I go without failing whenever I visit the beautiful city of Bath. The airy bread topped with their infamous cinnamon butter is to die for. All the sweet and savoury sandwiches can we overwhelming on the pallet, good thing they serve a good selection of tea too. Must must visit! yummyjubbly.com
