Not the largest pub in the world and often full, but the Hand in Hand is certainly one of the most atmospheric and welcoming in London. Landlord Andrew and his team run a very tight ship and service is invariably efficient and friendly; care has been taken to maintain the Hand in Hand as a proper pub, with children only allowed in the (pretty spacious) designated ‘family room’. A fine selection of real ales is well maintained, with guest ales changing frequently. As with many pubs in the Wimbledon Village area, the Hand in Hand is very dog friendly and enjoys a host of canine ‘regulars’ – accompanied, of course! – that contribute greatly to the general atmosphere, as does the occasional live rugby match on the TV. All this plus a decent food menu, a cosy outdoor courtyard with seating, regular events such as beer tastings and quiz nights, and an enviable situation on Wimbledon Common, makes the Hand in Hand a perfect place to spend an afternoon or evening.
