The ambience is very classy. The servers are very friendly and helpful. The food, it is out of this world. I love this place for everything it has to offer. It is usually crowded on weekends so make sure you have a reservation. Must visit, if you’re in Belfast.

When we went, this restaurant was very busy, to the point that it felt like they were slightly understaffed. This didn’t show in the service, however. In addition to our great server, multiple staff checked up with us for the duration of our meal. The food was terrific. One of the appetizers we chose was the calamari, which honestly was the best fried squid I ever had. My main dish, which was the Hake on a bed of vegetables served with noodles, was stupendous. The Asian flavour of the noodles complimented the more traditional preparation of the fish incredibly well, which took me by surprise.Despite the impressive food being served, the ambiance is definitely easy-going and casual.

Wow, what a let down. After reading good reviews, we were looking forward to dining here. Sadly, it was a pretty poor experience. It started with a weird appy. My ginger beef salad was actually very sour (waaaay too much lemon), American-style ginger beef with little salad involved. My girlfriend had the mussels, and while there was a lot of them and the presentation was nice, they had virtually no flavour.Next, our entrees. After my gal immediately found a HUGE hair in her noodles, it pretty much killed our appetites. They apologized and re-made her dish, but did nothing else. No adjustment to the bill or offer of any compensation. My duck was decent, but again, nothing extraordinary, as one might expect from a Michelin-rated restaurant. Our desserts were also decidedly average. My creme brle was okay, and we can’t even remember what she had, it was so dull. The decor seemed very cheap. It appears they feel a quick coat of paint over old joints, exposed cracks, and weird, eclectic art and vintage pots is their idea of high-end design. The service was quick and friendly, but given the misstep with my girlfriend’s dinner, you would think they would have done something about it.After paying a not-so-cheap bill, as we expected in a place with this hype, we vowed never to return again. My recommendation: skip it. The Crown Liquor Saloon has better food, and it’s only simple pub grub in a way cooler atmosphere, for a helluva lot less money.

Always excellent food and frequently changing menu. Warm staff, good service, great drinks list. Definitely one to try in Belfast.
