Decent value at lunch/ pre theatre but nothing to write home about. Service is stuffy, ambience sterile and dreadful coffee!Twice I ve been in the recent past and twice my main courses sauce/jus has evaporated/dried up due to plates being too hot in their storage cupboard. Mash was excellent beef shin a trifle under seasoned but nicely cooked.6/10
Chardon pas d’Or. Friday night. Dinner for four. Restaurant not very busy.Food good, not great. Large lump of fat in lasagne & ham hough starter which made us all wary of what was to follow.Service chaotic from the start.Waited far too long for drinks to arrive other than water.Waited far too long for food order to be taken.Ordered bottle of Veuve Clicquot which did not arrive. On asking what happened to the champagne I was advised that they did not have any. (Nobody had thought to tell us this or suggest an alternative).House champagne was recommended but returned as it could strip paint.Had to request pouring of wine twice before it happened.Further alarm was raised when waiter asked how the duck should be cooked. I have only been eating food for 62 years but, I have always believed that there is only one way to cook duck……medium rare…..unless you’re American.Overall, not up to the hype that the Glasgow media spew out to us about this restaurant. Was not the special experience that we expected. Not in any hurry to return. Better and cheaper eateries are plentiful in Glasgow, in my opinion.
Fantastic food unfortunately terrible service. Went there last night and we ordered celeriac soup, crisp lamb, roast scottish beef and Braised scotch Beef. I would like to stress to the service that we received which was terrible. We order a bottle of Red wine but we need to ask them to fill up our empty wine glasses and our water glasses. I don’t think it’s acceptable for them to not noticing customer’s table. And afterwards, when we want to leave, the waiter gave our coats, etc but he didn’t notice that my fleece was on the floor-he just leaved and my husband had to picked it up for me. I think he needs to be trained properly or is it because we are Asian?
