Lovely staff, good dining experience. I wanted a quick early dinner on a Monday evening and thought most places would be empty and dull but Carluccio’s had a very nice ambience on a chilly autumn night. Staff were friendly and efficient and manager(ess) was a particularly lovely lady. Food was tasty. Music good and not too loud. Selection of newspapers was handy for the lone diner. It was reasonably busy for a Monday night so other people must be enjoying it too!
Well i thought i beter try the Carluccios in my home town, after stuffing my face at many of their other UK resturants. The 10.95 for two course seemed to offer enough variety to temp me in. The interior is nice, clean fresh and open and a clear view of the pass is always good.I recently started timing food from when its put on the pass to it touching down on hungry dinners tables, Carluccios scored well. A quick responce from the waiter to take my drinks order is always welcome, but imagine my horror to be told that they dont serve Irn Bru…..surely some oversight on their behalf, we are in Glasgow after all.I quickly ordered the smooth pate for my starter, nice little serving topped and sealed in it little cup with chilled butter and rosemary. Three thinly sliced bits of rustic bread griddled and drizzled in olive oil…dont you just love the crunchy burnt edges? It also came with a sweet onion relish which cut beautifuly through the rich pate..good start Mr C. My main was a Penne with Spicy Italian sausage. Decent sized portion with a reasonable amount of sausage. I detected no hint or heat of spice which was a shame but pasta was cooked well and to my taste. The one thing i missed was the over sized pepper grinder…where have you gone ? All in all a reasonable lunch and a few extra pounds on the hips, cheers Mr C i will definately be back.
Carluccios is what you might call a prestige chain showcasing Italian produce across a range of styles. Open from morning until night, the Glasgow shop has proved popular since it opened in 2012.The cafe premises are bright and airy with light wood to the fore. Its a big place with room for 80+ diners in their main dining area.Although this was another breakfast in Glasgow I had a few more spare minutes than usual so took the opportunity to sit in. I was greeted by a friendly and attentive waiter who kept things bright and breezy throughout, but the pace of delivery of food from the kitchen was rather pedestrian.I felt a little sorry for the waiters and waitresses. While the manager got to stride around in a neat red pullover they were made to wear uniforms with little hats that looked more suited to the kitchen than front of house.I was in the mood for eggs but swithered for a while between scrambled or poached eventually settling upon eggs florentine. When my eggs arrived they looked much as expected. The eggs were nicely poached with good runny yolks. The spinach was plentiful if a little underseasoned and the hollandaise packed a good citrus freshness. It didnt particularly wow me, though; it was just a good solid effort. So overall, I was slightly underwhelmed by Carluccios. What it does it does quite well but there was little flair and imagination at work. It struck me as reliable rather than remarkable. I can imagine visiting another of their many outlets but Im not sure its top of my list of priorities.ScoresBlythe scores Carluccios3/5 for food3/5 for presentation4/5 for setting3/5 for servicegiving an overall 13/20I ate: eggs florentineI drank: espresso, waterI wore: workaday suitTotal bill: 9.45 lunchquest.co.uk
I went this place for the lunch with my friend. We choose this place randomly as we wanted to eat good italian food. And i have eaten in carluccio’s in London as well so I know the taste. Glasgow I found the same taste from them I really like the way they habe maintain their taste, friendly service and restaurants interior. I really like to visit again in carluccio’s.
I went here for a lunch on a weekday and it was completely packed. However, there was plenty of space and the service was friendly and speedy. I opted for the veal tortellini which was delicious but was a rather small portion for the price. For dessert I had a fruit salad and a cappuccino and both were divine. The fruit salad was made up of very fresh fruit and came with a special citrusy sauce which brought out the flavour of the fruit beautifully. For my cappuccino I opted for the smooth blend which lived up to the standard one would expect of an Italian restaurant and came with a little chocolate. My bill came to 17 pounds which is rather pricey for lunch. Despite it being a chain I recommend Carluccio’s to any one looking for a half decent Italian meal and who doesn’t mind paying slightly inflated prices.
A bit cold and draughty. The food portions were on the small side, the lasange was bland ,the zuppa zucca too sweet, the ravioli very good ,the lamb stew very tasty. The service excellent.
So disappointing – sad salad, poor risotto and no attention to detail. Our waitress was lovely but def won’t be back…
