Up and down. I have been here several times for lunch since I work in the area and have found the food to be hit or miss. The portions vary widely, probably based on who is working in the kitchen, the service staff seem nice enough although sometimes slow. However I went with my wife a week ago for dinner. She is vegetarian and ordered the thai veg curry which was really strange (partially cooked vegetables with a too spicy curry without much flavor other than spice). She unwisely ordered wok fried greens and got a dish of oily (not wok fried) peas in the shell, which was mostly what was in her curry. I ordered the coq au vin which came up in a pot that took forever to cool, and had what looked like chicken spine and lots of unidentifiable bones. It was really disgusting.Like I said, the food can be hit or miss, but I think they should do more to keep a solid standard.
My friend and I had lunch there today and we were both really disappointed. We were quite literally the only two people in the place and yet it took half an hour for our food (burgers and chips, nothing fancy or time consuming) to arrive. Service left a lot be desired, nobody bothered to check if we would like more drinks or if the food was ok, the place wasn’t exactly jumping so that can’t be used as an excuse.
Shockingly Bad. Went to Lucky 7 a couple of weekends ago with a large group of friends and had an awful meal. I appreciate the place is pretty inexpensive and goes for the shabby chic look but we had uncooked chicken and off mussels served to us and not one steak out of 7 or 8 cooked correctly along with bernaise sauce which had split. On top of this the cuttlery is in tubs on your table when you arrive, after lifting dirty a dirty knife and fork out of the tub we discovered the tub itself actually had mould growing the bottom of it. Staff were helpful enough but working with a usless kitchen were struggling to cope as dishes were getting sent back left right and centre !! Restaurant manager tried to come up with some pathetic excuse about the raw chicken apparantly ‘being fine when it left the kitchen’ according to the chef to which one of our party replied ‘it must be Benjamin Button Chicken then ??’ All in all possibly the worst meal i’ve ever had with i would say only 10% of the food from 8 people actually being edible !!
Sitting in lucky 7 right now. Been here for 45 minutes still waiting for lunch. Not good, we had to find someone to take our order. If I wasn’t so weak with hunger I would leave.
Gerardos Vaughanos. Extremely impressed – good food- attentive service-alternative decor which we like – extremely reasonable prices.Overall excellento.
