Was down in Glenrothes for business on the 29/01/2013 and stumbled upon The Burgh. Walking in the door you are immediately aware of the homely and relaxing atmosphere and welcomed by the friendly staff. The bar area is well decorates in warm colours and has a simple rustic style. We had food, three courses, which was incredibly good value for money. At only 7 a main course we were not expecting much but the food really was excellent and would still have been excellent at twice the price. I had lasagne, which normally is a fairly standard meal, and it was very tasty, well flavoured and a very good sized portion. My colleague had a sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection. Following the meal we had drinks in the bar area while sitting on some very comfortable sofas. Overall marks:Value for money – 10/10Food – 9/10 Atmosphere – 8/10 (this is only due to the fact it was quiet…but it was a Tuesday night)
Good food at The Burgh. We went for a meal at The Burgh after hearing second hand how good the food was. I find it hard to belive that there is bad reviews about the meals. I had steakpie and was the best I have had for a long time. My husband had fish and chips that are handmade and very nice. My daughter had starter and pudding as helpings rather large. Would recomend The Burgh for a meal and drink as the staff are really friendly and its very clean with wheelchair access too. I will be returning for sure and have to wonder why some people put up bad reviews, maybe bad compition?
I am enraged at reading these bad reviews! Obv fife foodie has no palate. As for stating staff were sympathetic to the dessert, I find this insulting! We, under new management, after 2 years of different management, are striving to regain the custom we achieved prior! Previous reviews are before it was under new management. We strive to meet our customers needs in all aspects of good food! X
Great food… great atmosphere… great place :-). After reading the last review I just had to have a say… Been to the burgh for tea 3 times since it was taken over again in Dec and yes it must be a change o chef again because food is fab… Would highly recommend it, staff are friendly and would do anything they can to ensure u have a gr8 meal… For example I’m no wine expert n like some white wines n one I chose was a bit dry n the staff knew from my face I didn’t like it and changed it at no extra cost n I got a nice sweet one I enjoyed and yes the menu does not have a large choice but there is something to suit everyone and there is a special board which has a decent selection. Would highly recommend the brushetta then the tomatoe n mascaponie sauce pasta its been amazing each time I’ve had it :-)!! Going tomorrow for brushetta, pasta n a large white wine spritzer and going with work in a couple of weeks and I don’t think anyone will be disappointed x
Best avoided. Since the good reviews they must have had a change of chef! We went recently and food was terrible, the worst pub lunch is a long long time. Menu consisted of about 6 basic main courses which they still didn’t get right, even the choc fudge cake was a disappointment, turned out to be a brownie which had been so overdone in the micro you could smell it was burnt before it reached the table. Waitress was not surprised and unsympathetic. Save your money and avoid it at all cost
Went for a meal here last night, bruschetta was stone cold&my friends haggis balls were fatty&greasy! Main course wasn’t much better, I had chicken curry&im pretty sure it had been reheated in microwave. Some bits were hot&cold….didn’t eat it!!! We told the staff&they didn’t seem that surprised. We stayed for drink &barman gave us a cocktail jug to make up for things, could nt fault the staff but noticed the chef at the bar later&he looked like he was laughing at us!! I’ve made nicer meals at home&without the risk of food poisoning.
Really good food. Nice place and good atmosphere. Only been for lunch but I’ll definetly be back for dinner
