Had a very disappointing dinner tonight, we ordered vegetarian dishes (as my friend is), red curry, pad thai and the veg platter. Veg platter was all deep fried stuff (like tempura) except for the rice cake with some kind of ratatouille (rice cake taste was weird), didnt expect to get deep broccoli and asparagus tempura and wish it has more variety than all deep fried. The curry was very ordinary, and my friend said it was sweet but didnt wanna complain, my pad thai in another hand was a disaster, basically taste like sugar syrup, super sweet and not authentic at all. I asked them to do the same thing but less sweet but the waitress said cant as the sauce is already made. Changed to veg stir fry after complain and end up also super sweet but didnt wanna complain anymore, just wanna leave. I tried to eat it as dont wanna be hungry at night, but couldnt finish more than 1/2. End up the bill was wrong as the waitress didnt take out the pd thai so they charged both pad thai and stir fry. Lucky we tried here, as i supposed to celebrate my bday at chaopraya in aberdeen, since now i know, i definitely will cancel my booking, as the food is not authentic and super sweet.

I love restaurants with beautiful ambience, it helps create a certain expectations in your mind. Chaophraya reception has an intriguing glass chandelier with several Buddha statues greeting you.Since it was only three of us we ordered Thai curry, chicken cashew and beef sizzling with sticky rice & steamed noodles on the side. All of the dishes did justice but my fav was the cashew nut curry with sticky rice.
