Overpriced for average food.Disappointed in the morning rolls as they turned out to be burger buns.2 rolls (buns) 1 with bacon 1 with egg and half a potato scone and a coffee and cake 12. Value for money I think not!
With a lighter and brighter feel to it compared to Beanscene next door this place is great for coffee and one of their delicious cakes!! It has a west end feel to it without being pretentious albeit in the more happening southside with the friendly staff. However if your searching for the Southside’s best cooked breakfast this although providing a nice offering is fairly standard! Nice friendly place! 3.5/5
Brunch Heaven. A great little Shawlands eatery. The sign outside says ‘Fresh Food and Great Coffee’ and I cannot disagree. This cafe is tucked down Skirving Street which is fast becoming the best independent shopping location on the Southside. There are a few other places to eat and have coffee in this street but Biscuit is the best of the bunch. Sunday mornings are fab with a buzzy atmosphere and slick service. With a large NYC inspired brunch menu, they serve the best French toast this side of the Atlantic.
Love it!. We ventured back to Biscuit to try the lunch menu after popping in a while ago just for coffee. As a ‘vegi’ I was glad to see lots of options for me. I ordered the Cannellini bean, garlic, lemon, coriander, and tomato Brushchetta main. It was lip smacking good and only 4.95!! My carnivorous friend wolfed the homemade burger with sweet potato chips and said it was delicious too (I’ll take her word for it). Instead of coffee, we then tried the Specialty Tea’s they offer. They are served in little glass tea pots and look like flowers that bloom when the hot water is added. They look absolutely beautiful and taste really nice too. I’ve never seen anything quite like this before….. Last but not least we had some homemade cakes. Beetroot cake with orange frosting for me and cranberry and sunflower biscuit’s for my friend. We both really enjoyed the food, service and general ambience of Biscuit. They offer a varied menu that doesn’t hit the pocket hard but is big on taste. We shall definitely go back.23 Nov, 2009Coffee and Cake. I’ve not eaten here – we only popped in for coffee and cake but the menu looked good and so did the dishes coming out the kitchen. They have a monthly ‘special’ board of Biscuits, Cakes, Muffins etc along with all the other things you would expect. I enjoyed my homemade red velvet cake and latte. I would go again for lunch or breakfast.
Biscuit anyone?. In my opinion, this is the best place for food and coffee in the Southside. I just wish they would open late at weekends, as the choice in Shawlands is quite limited at nights.Anyway, if you go for breakfast/brunch try the french toast with bacon & maple syrup or the full breakfast. It’s a sure thing hang-over cure. The ‘Bruschetta Biscuit Style’ is also very good with different toppings to choose from. You can knock it back with old skool drinks like Ice cream floats and Knickerbocker Glory! Bliss!
Biscuit. This place describes itself as a ‘Coffee House diner’ and can be found on Skirving St, bang in the middle of Shawlands. I visted recently after seeing some good reviews in the Evening Times newspaper. The decor is pretty cool, the music is pretty cool and the food/coffee is very good. It’s packed at weekends so they must be doing something right. Like everything else apparently, they make all the cakes etc in-house. I really liked it.
