  All I can say is wow. I’ve had so many great dining experiences in Edinburgh, but this one has to trump them all. There was 11 of us there in total, so we booked quite far in advance because it’s quite a small restaurant. We went on a Friday night and it’s BYOB, which was great for us but maybe not everyone around us! The service was very relaxed, but friendly, and our waitress was very vocal about what she liked on the menu, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of my friends had been before so I took my lead from her when ordering and the waitress quickly stated that this was her favourite, so I was very excited!We shared the prawns with garlic and ginger to start, which were extremely tasty but my main was definitely the highlight. I chose the coconut, coriander and almond fish fillet, which came with carrots and crushed potatoes. I ate the whole thing and enjoyed every last bit – it was fantastic! Surprisingly, even better than the food was the atmosphere. After we had eaten a guitarist came out and we all started to sing along, which quickly led to people in the restaurant standing up to sing. I don’t think I have ever had so much fun in a restaurant and it is especially rare to find a place with such an inviting atmosphere and such amazing food.The whole evening was brilliant, I felt like a was in someone’s home in the Caribbean drinking wine, eating good food and having a fantastic time with friends! I can’t wait to go back to Riverlife!

  Sooooooo Good. This has to be my favourite Edinburgh Restaurant. I’ve been 3 times since end April. Buumba the waitress is just brilliant. We got there at 5:50 not realising it opened at 6. She let us in so we could sit, put our beers in the fridge (was a very hot evening) – yes in Edinburgh! Met her husband Mario who is the chef who certainly is one of the best chefs I’ve come across.My favourite starters so far has to be the Fig in Pancetta with Blue Cheese & Balsamic Dressing AND the Mushrooms stuffed with Blue Cheese. The Smoked Salmon Fish Cake, Poached Egg, French Mustard Dressing is divine.I’m working my way through the menu so can’t wait to go back.

  RiveRLife is boasts an extensive menu, flavoursome good food prepared in house. The only place in Edinburgh serving a fusion of French Caribbean food. BYOB no corkage, you just have to try it out.
